Anyone try Thompson powerblast plate

When Holley puts them in all of their carburetors, I'll pay attention.

With all of the R&D money Holley has into their carbs I kinda doubt some aftermarket company is going to add anything significant.
HEY!, what about getting one of those fans that "add 50hp" that go under the carb too.

I bought a pair for my Quick Fuel Dominator. It definitely fans out the pump shots which in turn should atomize the fuel mixture more thoroughly. As far as any kind of performance gains.... Who knows??? For 70 bucks I decided to take a sip of snake oil...

That company is right down the street from me.
Never heard of them, or their product, before this.

That's one of the reasons why I tried it out. And it did seem to help. I also found that my secondaries were occasionally hanging open just the slightest bit

Most of us have probably spent $90 or more on things that have not gained us anything.

Thanks for posting the info!

Good luck man. You'll definitely see a difference in the pump shot. Curious to see what you think. Keep us posted!

I put them on my Bigs Performance carb. I asked Jesse from Bigs what he thought of them. He said they looked good and not to be afraid to try them. I noticed throttle response was a little quicker. I'm happy with them.

My buddy, Mike, just put one on his 440, 3x2, Tremec 5-speed '70 Coronet.

it Seems logical, but i can never understand why things like this simply aren't marketed with 3 or 4 different engines, or vehicles, strapped to a dyno with "amazing" results. a 4 min video, and it either rides or dies.

We tested a 427 CID engine the other day in a cell, and were able to KILL 50 HP with a certain type of air filter assembly. We have a customer in the field with the same air cleaner saying it "feels better" "feelings" aren't always what they seem!

won't ask you to out the crap filter, but which ones have you tried that work?

In very general terms, Foam is junk. it neither cleans the air, or flows well.
and as far as cases, or assembly type, the more you can direct air down the carb body, opposed to sideways, or up and in, the better.

Ha. So I uploaded a quick video of the powerblast plates on YouTube. Here’s the link. Keep in mind this is literally a cold start. Just enough time for it to build a bit of oil pressure. No lag , bog or any other issues. Just tits. Throttle response incredible. Typo 960 brawler carb is obviously a 950.

Simple. That's because stuff like this is snake oil. Always easy to spot because there's never empirical data to back anything up. Comparing before and after videos of someone revving the engine is subjective, as anyone could rev the engine slower or faster to easily show a difference. To me, the bottom line is this. If these things were"tits" they'd be on every single production Holley style carburetor built. They're not. So for me, nuff said.

I get it. Your right. I’m not by any means a pro at any of this stuff. I do notice a lot crisper throttle response and ..... more grunt when it’s under that initial load when I punch it. Maybe it’s a mental thing . It always feels like it’s faster after you do anything to it that’s how you justify spending more money

I wasn't talking about YOUR video......just the ones on their site that compare before and after. It could well do what it says........there's just absolutely no hard proof that it does......and to me it looks like if there was proof, the company would want to post that. Dyno numbers, dragstrip times.....those kinda of numbers don't lie.

they have a couple dyno tests on the site. so who's got the most consistent car around here? i'll chip in $5 toward buying a setup and having them do some back to back runs
