Anyone try Thompson powerblast plate

-
That's fine with me. I'd even toss it on an engine dyno after the season, with a different engine.

ok, just talked with Johnny Mac about the fund raiser. he has good reasons for not wanting to have a bunch of people start paypaling him randomly. i'll order the ones he needs and deal with the contributions. if anyone wants to chip in, PM me and i'll give you my paypal. they're $40 ea + shipping, and he needs 2, so if 16 people want to chip in $5 each that's awesome. Johnny Mac will do the fun part. unless someone has an issue with it, i'll post the donators names here. i'm going to order these now, and if we don't get enough donations, i'm not going to worry about it
thanks,
chuck

Speaking/testing as Myself...no company affiliation. Just a volunteer test mule with a race car on this one :p

Good plan. Keep your company out of it. This is almost a loose/loose deal. I guess not if you can find power with it on the dyno, but I doubt you will, as the pump shot has nothing to do with testing.

Anything you say about the product could come back on the company so keeping them out of it is the best idea.

1000% yes. I have Zero skin in the game. I have a bracket car, and i'm willing to toss them on if they show up in the mail. Thats all!

I could see them helping something that is not quite optimum on pump cam and squirter size. Can’t imagine it doing much on a properly tuned carb. For $90 bucks I can buy a lot of pump cams and squirters.

Cool video and I love the car. Not sure what it proves though. A properly tuned up carb will have the same throttle response as that. I have a 511 in my road runner, I’ve ran a vacuum six pack, a mechanical “pumper” six pack, a 4150/1050, and several 4500 series dominators ( a few I built for other people). They’ve all had as good or better response as the carb on that car without some overpriced piece of tin on the pump nozzle. Took some work sometimes to get it there but it was done.

Exactly. We still have no solid proof. No empirical data. Hopefully @Johnny Mac will change all that.

Had one on an eddy 600 it helped that carb but a holley might be a different story need 1/4 times.

Simple. That's because stuff like this is snake oil. Always easy to spot because there's never empirical data to back anything up. Comparing before and after videos of someone revving the engine is subjective, as anyone could rev the engine slower or faster to easily show a difference. To me, the bottom line is this. If these things were"tits" they'd be on every single production Holley style carburetor built. They're not. So for me, nuff said.
I can agree for the most part, much of these fuel related gizmos are pure snake oil, this one looks and sounds like it does offer noticeable improvements from all I've read out there, BUT, what state of tune are all the ravers engines in prior to trying? From what I've read they all have some level of bog, hesitation, or stumble that IMO gets masked and overcome by installing this bandaid. Instead of taking the time to tune its much easier to just slap this puppy on and viola! Hopefully Johnny's setup is dialed in perfect and we can all see how it does when put to the test

A properly tuned pump shot and squirter will be better than adding something in the way of the engineered air path.

thanks everyone that has or is planing to contribute. parts are ordered and should arrive by the end of the week. don't know when they will be tested, there are rumors Johnny Mac has a job and a real life out side this forum...
a shout out to those who donated, and those with plans to donate, in no particular order. we appreciate the help. if i screwed up and left your name off, let me know.

that's what i expect is what's happening, but also why i'm interested in seeing this test

All the raves and shout outs in the world are meaningless.......not to offend anyone who's tried it and like it. That's just not hard empirical data, like dyno test or drag strip runs. I hope maybe we can get some hard evidence either way, which is why I donated to the cause.
