I screwed up!! Advice please?

i bought the car sight unseen from a guy with some high end, rare, nut and bolt restored Mopars. He seemed like a real straight up guy.
I was just after a solid cruiser. No structural issues, so to speak. Didn’t care if it was a 20 footer, as long as it was solid.
I was assured it was, he sent pics and videos ect.
I had the car delivered and just got a chance to dig into it a bit.
I was about to do the front brakes and cruise it around this weekend.
Sigh...
The A arm mounting “tabs” are junk. The front one on the driver side is actually rotted and separate from the frame rail.
The rail doesn’t look all that great in that area as well.
The passenger side is similar.
The rest of the car is “fair” to decent for what it is.
If it was a local buy, I’d have had my money back by now.
But due to distance and transport costs, I own it.
I’m not looking at any legal action or anything like that. It was a 6000 dollar car.
But it’s not a driver. It’s not sound. And I believe it would be a big$$ repair. I can stick metal together, but I can’t weld. Nor could I get the proper geometry.
Sell it? I’m brutally honest when I sell things. With the 340 that I’ve been sitting on, try and recoup and move on or??
Sorry for the rant.
I was really excited and my balloon just burst.
Been doing the family thing with no Mopar for far too long now.

What say you?
 
At least tell everybody here (and anywhere you can) who the seller was so nobody else gets taken!
As for the repair, it is possible to weld in a complete used front frame rail set.
It's not cheap but if the rest of the body is good, it may be worthwhile

Only cars I've bought sight unseen were donor/parts cars.
 
You're right. It was a 6K car. That's certainly not perfect car territory, but it was misrepresented. No offense when I ask this.....but if you could afford 6K for a car, why not a plane ticket to go look at it in person? OR we have members in the area that car was in I am sure who could have looked at it for you. All water under the bridge now I suppose. Sounds like it needs front frame rail(s). They really are not hard to replace. Just a lot of spot welds. You could remove it or them yourself, get the replacements, get the car COMPLETELY ready for them to be welded back in and have someone come do it for you.....OR you could buy a decent MIG welder, learn how to use it and do it yourself. WIre welding is the easiest form of welding to learn. Trust me. If I can do it, the biggest retard on the planet can do it. No offense to retards.

Normally I stick up for disabled people. That made me snort laugh
 
I had an a arm tab rusted loose on mine after I bought it. Probably not a big deal. Mine is a driver so I welded some steel in to reinforce it and it has been fine for 2 years. It’s under the car, so nobody will see it. A meatball job is ok if it is solid. Find somebody to weld it up, maybe a local muffler shop if they will do it.

I agree with Steve, looks like a good deal to me if that is your only real issue.
 
I would demand a return with the seller returning your 6k and paying for return shipping.If he offers less, take it with the loss as a lesson to never buy a car sight unseen. Good luck.

The distance and transportation cost kills that. It would have to be a legal battle. I did mention refund to the seller, he wasn’t interested. I don’t have the time or money for a court battle 900 miles away. Wish I did!
 
Post some more pictures of the car, exterior, interior, engine. Let’s see what you got.

I can’t name drop, not yet anyway. At this point, I think he honestly thought that the car was in great shape. And is just clueless with a big wallet. He said he was driving his family around in it recently. I don’t think I drive my enemies around in it!!

And there you have it. That's proof positive he knew what the car was when he sold it. Any person with half *** integrity that really didn't know, would have offered "something" to try to make it right. "I JUST BET" the rust you found "AIN'T ALL". I sure am sorry.

I’ve done quite well in the past on a few vehicles, sight unseen.
Just built a rapport with the seller and had a warm fuzzy feeling of honesty. This guy was the same.

People fix way worse. Notches ain't growing on trees. Give us more details and pics of the interior and engine. You may have done alright.

No offense taken at all. I don’t have the time right now. Too much going on with work, the kids, the house needs a new roof before winter etc. etc.
The seller seems really honest, but maybe he’s a really good liar! I try to always see the good in people, and even now, I kind of believe that he was unaware of the issues.
It definitely does need new rails, I’m just not sure if it’s worth having them done. I don’t have the time, and I don’t trust my welding skills. So I guess I’ll do a little digging around on what it might cost. And make a decision from there.

You really need to dig into the rest of the car to make that decision I think. It could be that's all it needs. However, if the frame rails are rusted badly, I seriously doubt that's all there is.

I’ll get some up tomorrow when I take some more. It’s not a horrible deal. The car has some mud in it and the interior is a bit ratty.
But I wanted a notchback since I sold my last one 15 years+ago.
Hopefully I can just get it patched up, I do know some really great welders.

You may be right. I know I certainly would, and would be all apologies and go above and beyond to make it right. I know there’s a few other issues, but nothing Else structural…So far!

Everybody's a nice guy when they are trying to sell you something, especially a piece of ****...
 
You should go over the whole car and make a honest assessment of the condition. Then make a informed decision. If in fact that is the worst of it, I would fix it. Maybe ask the seller to help you out with a partial refund.

Having been involved in the car hobby/business for 40 plus years, I've dealt with more than a few "honest mistakes" and misrepresentations made by people with big and small wallets. I am sorry that you have been stuck with what is basically an unsafe vehicle. I do hope that you are able to find a way to get it repaired and roadworthy without being screwed any further. Take a step back, give it a complete inspection and make a decision based on what the rest of the car's condition is.
 
First, it certainly won't hurt to contact the seller and request at least a partial refund.
Second, If you truly cannot repair it, you have two choices; sell it whole, or part it out. Depending on the car, they can be worth more in parts, if you want to do the work.
