Ok folks. Boo boo on my part. Picked up disc brake stuff for car....was Kelsey Hays 5x4 for front so I had to drop down to a 14 inch rim. Otherwise, car is in primer and headed in the right direction!

Dartn, this has been a great read so far! Glad to see someone close to me doing a Duster also in the event I have any questions. I have a 73 and currently cleaning up a 318 just to get it rolling for the time being. Im over in Fayettenam. And I guess my first post also.

Car is in a shop in Lillington. I have just about everything you could ever need in the way of mechanical parts, etc. I work on Bragg but don’t find myself in the Nam unless I have to go to a meeting for the fishing club or the organization I volunteer with. Just let me know.

Putting the AC stuff into the car and getting the motor on the run stand and mated to the trans soon....

Well, I definitely will have to make a list. I bought the engine local and thought it would be a simple plug and play but, that's not the case. Years of surface rust all inside the engine is making me tear it all the way down and replace all the bearings. The engine block its self needs a hot tank bath, every coolant passage has blockage. I stored the car at my dads during the PCS and going to pick it up in October. Now is the rush to get the engine ready. If you have any pulleys for sale I need every one except the power steering along with brackets.

Ok. 440 up for sale. Had some time between puking kids and life to get to some Knick-knack **** on the car. Hood is off and headed to Ohio. Challenger in the paint booth right now. When it’s out then this one heads in to get bay, doors, and trunk cut in. Got the hood latch ready. Brackets for AC showed up so that can go on motor. Blasted the power steering pump and started to rid the car of blue corrugated wire covers. Rear is under the car, need to move the springs later. Not sure the offset is going to work once we lower the car. Made some progress on some other stuff. Have a 360 at the machine shop. 3 440s i need to tear down and machine, 2 318s, who knows what else. Trying to clean up but work won’t let me. Red car going up for sale to fund a garage and some other house stuff.

Back out of town for a month....just when I was picking up steam to get some stuff done. Got a call from the machine shop today on a 360 I was having done. Seems the dish pistons I bought on here were going to be so far down in the hole that the calculation on compression was under 8:1. Lol naga do that....so on to some new pistons

Red car ? You mean your 72 ? Good luck wherever your headed. When u get around to it will you tell more about the ac system on this one. Planning my engine compartment clean up / repaint and thinking about removing factory stuff and removing blower motor hole from firewall like you did. It would be little while down the road before I worry about getting the new stuff just need to figure out a plan before I fill in the firewall. Thanks

Yep the 72. I might have been home 2/3 of the year. Made 1 car show in the Demon. The next 2 years don’t look any better. I would rather someone drive it.

Will tell on the AC once it gets settled. Had to buy some brackets to mount pump onto motor so first suggestion I have is make sure the kit you buy has all the needed brackets. You might pay a few bucks more, but trust me, you will benefit from it. Cheapest route is if you have ones off the motor you are planning to use. Mine did not.

I am trying to hide my AC up under the dash...we will see.

Gone. Actually sitting on a runway waiting to get back in the air. Got it the day before I started my travel. Thanks!!

Ordered a pile of parts to build another 360 for the street. Going to send a 67 440 to the shop with a 71 400 that needs the pistons drilled out and complete machine work. Seems I try to clean up and end up with more stuff.

Nothing done on the Duster but I managed to get the motors to the machine shop today after my trip. Wife dropped off 360 parts at the machine shop while I was gone so that is moving along. Picked out pink thread for upholstery and the sewing has begun!

Well not a damn thing done in the car. Had to take some time off work to decompress with the wife. Sometimes work is like watching one of those marathon runners, head telling the legs to move, but instead it is similar to walking on legs without bones.

Did get my brother to go snatch two 440 cores and stuff em in the shed.
