Trick Flow small block heads

I agree, the point that I was trying to make is guys think that if it's made of aluminum and it just came on the market, and has all the latest and greatest, it must be the way to go.
AKA: TRICK FLOW FEVER...???
 
Jesus christ isn't this thread to get info about how the tick flows perform. That's all I was asking. One of my friends is interested in my eddy heads with his mild build so like I said before if I'm upgrading to a solid roller maybe it's a good choice to upgrade to a better flowing head. "Hey look, new trick flows pretty damn good for a decent price, and free shipping from Summit...lets dig and see if guys are liking them"... I also said I'm getting my Eddy's flowed first, but once again living in Calgary not very many people do this.
Getting pricing on Indy stuff right now as well.....if my Eddy's look really good I'll keep them, I just didnt wanna get into a situation where next year and I'm disappointed switching to a big solid roller and the old finger tappers on here say "you don't have enough head for that cam, that's your problem".
My eddy heads were just mild hand ported by a guy at his house. No flow bench..that's all I know about them for now. Will see.
 
Then you also need to look at your converter too, 9 inch?
The lunatic cam you were looking at is only .600 lift.
Again what is your goal.

Custom built converter from Frank Lupo. 9" stalls around 43-4500.
Was looking at the Lunati, but decided to go with a custom grind from bullet...before they design a grind I have to decide on a head

If I wanted to try the TF heads, I’d just order ‘em up.

I’ve had several customers running well into the 10’s with the RPM heads......and I can’t see why the TF’s wouldn’t run at least as good.

Flat top 416, mild ported RPM’s, easy on parts solid cam, SV intake, 850DP:

It's good for everyone to see what a proven combo looks like.

I'll give you my .02 and remember what you paid for it.

If it was me, and I had someone on the line to buy the Eddie heads I'd do it in a New York second. I wouldnt care of the car didn't go any faster either.

The TF is just a better casting to start with. Period. The shape of the TF head is far superior to the eddy and you can't fix the Eddie without welding the up. BTDT and it's only worth it if you can't get the TF.

The rocker geometry is much better out of the box with the TF. You may need to make a correction depending on what rocker you have, but it's a small correction. The eddy heads didn't move the shafts near enough for the valve height, and you pay for it with goofy geometry.

If I had a set of TF heads, the first thing I'd do is put them on the bench. Then I'd start looking at important stuff, not just bulk flow. And then, I'd seriously consider a 50 degree valve job for them.

Only seeing one pair of heads and not getting to put them on the flow bench, my first thoughts were these heads would love a 50 degree seat. A few quick tests on the flow bench would answe that either way.

The real issue is two fold. One is where the pushrod is. Guys don't like to say it, but pushrod pinch is bad. It's that simple. So is making the port go from small to large from the intake flange to the bowl. You want the least amount of change of size you can get. With the pushrod where it is, you are going to end up with a bowl that is too big for the runner. It is what it is.

The other issue is the low port angle. Had Chrysler stuck with the W5 and did some minor improvements that head would be selling like hot cakes today. But the short sighted dolts running the show never pushed the stroker guys to get enough head on their big stroke, low Rod ratio engines.

I have no problem telling you to sell the eddy heads and getting the TF's. You'll have a better head hands down.

If you really want to see a performance increase, you need to go to the W2 head.

That's not even comparable to the TF. Those heads you compare to the W2. Nothing wrong with those heads, except you have to deal with Indy.

I'd rather eat a poop sand which on live TV than deal with those goofballs. But, the heads will make power.

If you are looking to make that level of power, the 360-1 is a better choice than the trick flow for the sole reason that they use an offset rocker which means the physical size of the port is just bigger.
I understand what you are saying on the Canadian thing. I know all about exchange rates and borders. I use a U.S parcel shipping address. Pick it up yourself and bring it over, pay your taxes.
I think one of the other posters said it best. He spend $5,000, changed over from the Edelbrock to the trick flow and only went a 1/10 quicker, however high 9,s ain't no slouch at all.
Chrysler use to publish a list of compatible parts combos to achieve a certain performance level, there was alway 2 parts to it. The motor and the chassis. Those are a good guide.

Well there was a guy on the forum bout a month ago that wanted to build a 10 second street car. We talked about how unrealistic it is to build a 10 second car safely. Garret's post reflected on his current build and what is truly involved with the car structurally and what it realistically was costing. He talked the guy into staying with a 12 second car instead. But it was the way he wrote the post that was very good. Another good post that someone made was how flow numbers can be deceptive to the real performance expectation.
That is what Yellow rose is trying to explain to you.
Any head that uses offset intake rockers, w2,w5,Indy 360-1&2,
Edelbrock Victor etc will perform in a much higher performance level
Than any stock rocker location head, regardless of its advertised flow numbers, because the physical port size is made bigger.
You cannot change those physics.
It's important for you to decide on a realistic performance goal to avoid spending where it will not help enough versus the dollars spend.

That's what I said. He needs valve springs, an 8 inch converter
and more cam= 10 second car.

Notice he doesn't say much but when he does...
If I catch a glimpse of nw headed to the starting line I always head that way myself it's going to be one hell of a pass... This car is a pretty serious trailer effort...
Lol... One hell of a nice guy.. when I walked up to him and shook hand at the Mopar Nationals I think one of the first things that came out of his mouth was "what's up with that yellow rose guy?".... LOL....
