3 FISH LIMIT AL's BUDGET BUILD

-
Car looks great. Lots of work in a short time. Helps that most of the body work was done.
Thanks Matt, that's really the only reason I decided to keep the 67. It was 90% finished on the bodywork. It had one ding in the driver side door from swinging open and hitting something .
And the floor pan was rotted . I was going over the time frame of when I got these cars. Sometime in April of this year. Spent a couple months parting out the 68 , cleaning and Sorting out parts . What to keep and what I could get rid of and not regret.
And the fact it had most everything between the two to finish it up.
I think I have the drive train combo lined out, with the 4spd . So that leaves me with an extra A727, supposed to be good and a complete center console and shifter setup and I have two complete dashboards and clusters. The 68 had a rally dash with the tach instead of the vacuum gauge and 150 speedo that I plan on using. That I will figure out after some easier interior work gets finished..

Hell yeah, Al! You were standin that one UP!
Ya, that was the first time back to the track after building a 500 ci stroker. Never did that before with the 440. That was the 3rd pass , first 2 was with the foot brake a couple easy passes. 3rd I let it eat on the trans brake. It was funny after the fact, I couldn't see out the front so I was looking out the driver side door. On the bumper I was blowing by a chevelle in the left lane. Just feathered the throttle to set the front end back down. Hit the gas as it was coming back down and didn't even get a bounce.
That pass made a mention in Drag racing online ( I think it is called).
The track photographer, Brett Kempner at the time also did work with them and put a photo and caption about me. My 1 second of racing fame. Lol.
Man I miss that money pit.

Sounds like fun never really raced but sure enjoy watching.

While working in the garage I ran across the sanding disks. I thought these sucked. Don't waste your money on em.
Put the wiper motor and pivots tested and installed, had what I needed.

Since that went good I put some emblems on. And dug up the dash parts , did a little sanding and paint .

Other than that, sent a member in Colorado a part, to keep the project rolling. Thanks Morgan.

Been working on the dash assembly, pulling parts from the rafters , cleaning, breaking , painting fitting. I have both 67 and 68 dashes but only the 68 wire harnesses for the hole car. So I'm planning on using the 68 dash. I'll try to post up some pictures of that later today.

I'm rewiring my engine compartment and that's the part I don't like seems I get tangled up in a wiring nightmare.

Dont forget to fill in the vin rivet holes lol

I'll be there soon. Fred if the harness hasn't been hacked on , it's pretty straightforward, as most all the connections will only fit one way.
Doing customized wiring trying to hide them and also got rid of the bulkhead plug.
But gonna have to order the wire in the right colors the factory used.

Got the dash painted, and put some Arkansas chrome on the bezel, still have to glue the little burl wood trim on with something. Not a top of line cluster restore ,but it'll have to do.

I'm going to need some help in that department to I believe. Once I start assembling the parts it may all comeback to the old memory banks, and fall into place.

Ya, all the plastic chrome was gone and yellow.
Just trying to put it back together with what I have and change out stuff later if I feel the need.
Doing the same get it derivable and change parts as I can afford to.
Been trying to find motor mounts and the ones I found from Mancini are not available.
I have the hardest time shopping on line.

I ordered a bunch of parts from Classic for the interior, like a headliner, package tray, rubber window seals, ect. That will get me close to finishing out the interior. I have decent carpet and door panels , that I sold the guy awhile back when he was going to put this one together.
