Building a Dana 60/pinion offset?

Hi Im building a Dana for my 71 Duster, on Dr. Diffs site axle calculator it said to choose a 1 3/16 pinion offset(std mopar) or a centered pinion. Is there any advantage to center pinion in tunnel? With a centered pinion both axles would be same length, which would make it easier to carry spare axle. Any Thoughts? Thanks

The entire Drive drivetrain is offset. Trust me you won't need a spare...

you can see where I twisted the factory axles but it was actually the Caps that hold the ring gear on the 8 3/4 that blew... LOL
That's why I went to the dana so none of the stuff would happen again...

IIRC a centered pinion would result in unequal length axles. Ford 9 inch are centered and each axle is different. Mopar pinion is not centered an each axle is same length.
 
In both of my cars I run equal length axles. It comes down to choice.

I ordered a set of axles from Cass before for a Dana housing on a different car to stock A body specs and the 2 axles are different length on that set. that is why I asked the question

From what I've seen, 8 3/4" rear with factory dimensions has equal length axles. Dana 60 axles are a different length by 1".
 
A Dana 60 built with equal length tubes and axles, yields a 1/2" pinion offset.

If you want to the driveshaft centered in the tunnel, build the housing to the OEM Mopar specs (1 3/16" pinion offset). The driver side tube and axle will be 1 3/8" longer than the passenger side.

My B body car came with the narrowed Dana with equal length axles, works great, so when I built the Dana for the Dart I went with equal length axles again.
