Quarter to deck filler panel seam. It’s usually just seam sealed. Kicking around the idea for rust protection and aesthetics

Strip the paint back, 2 coats primer surfacer, then use seam sealer and smooth out real quick with a wet finger. Clean up excess seam sealer with fast dry enamel reducer. Can't beat that and it will look factory.

Welding warps things and burns the paint off the underside, not to mention all the grinding you will have to do to clean it down to level.

If your just wanting to smooth it out, I would grind the paint off and put some metal bond epoxy in there...grind it down once it hardens skim with filler and block it. The metal bond epoxy will add some strength to the seam and seal it from future rust.

Metal bond epoxy? Can someone please explain what this is. Is it like the filler all metal with metal filling? Can I use this approach on a pillars where my dart sport was covered with a vinyl top? There was some kind of white filler/sealer that was dried out and fell out leaving a deep seem. Or would weld fill work here? Just looking for a long lasting/permanent solution I guess.
