Hello,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a transmission builder near Portland Oregon?

I dropped my 727 small block with some nice parts off with A1 Performance 5 weeks ago, and they are requesting another 3-4 weeks to complete it. They were upfront with me about their lead time (6 weeks originally), but I have had to call several times (5) just to get an update.

I can travel from Salem to Portland for a good shop.

You do realize how simple these are build at home?
I went to Portland transmission and bought $120 rebuild kit and a transgo shift kit and had no problem rebuilding my transmission as a first-timer...
I think it was after I got quite a bit of advice from a member here who ran his own transmission shops... if I could quote him and say that if you couldn't rebuild at least three of these a day you wouldn't have a spot at his shop...
After rebuilding my 904 which is just a smaller version of the 727 in most cases I couldn't understand why someone wouldn't do this themselves unless they were extremely time restricted or something...

Thanks for your thoughts, however, for my build I have already planned and budgeted for a shop to perform this work.

You are correct in the assumption that I don't have the space and very limited time. With starting a family my time will get less and less for this so I would rather have the car complete.

So, does anyone know a builder that is reputable and could turn around a transmission by Thanksgiving?

What extra parts did you buy for it?
