Additive Friction Modifier

-
I've used both the Ford Racing and Mopar friction modifiers. Price about the same online - Mopar a little less.

Which unit are you using the cone type or the clutch type? Some times one bottle is not enough with the clutch type. but it also depends on the fluid you use.

I use the delco stuff, easiest to get.

If Fords stuff is still same as it was 20 years ago... don't spill a drop. It smells as bad as a skunk.

Anyone used the gear lube with the limited slip modifier already in it?

O'Reily's has several on the shelf including this one.

I saw that recently when buying fluids for my 8.25.
One thing that stopped me from considering it was that even though it was a Castrol product (which I generally trust) I wanted to go with a Valvoline conventional and the Ford LSD additive as recommended by Dr. Diff.
I also read in multiple places on the net (so you know it's true:D) that it's not a good idea to use higher viscosity fluid like 75-140 in LSD's.
The opinion overall was that the higher vis fluids can't get into the clutches and thrust surfaces with as much volume as the thinner fluids and can end up causing galling.

For some reason I can't quite actually put my finger on why I like Castrol synthetic engine oils and Valvoline or Lucas gear oils.
Maybe it's the taste.:D

Valvoline has one as well.

I was a Castrol guy until I switched to Kendall in the 1990's and then to Valvoline when Kendall became too hard to find.

The 383 in my Super Bee was very good about "telling me" when it was time to change the oil, and I found the Castrol didn't last very long.

I have of late been on the fence about Amsoil synthetic, but even though they say it's a 25k mile oil I have to wonder what ends up staying in my engine for 25k miles.
The price isn't too big a deal since my engine uses zero oil between changes.
Your thoughts?

Amsoil claims that the oil reduces wear. If I were to go 25k miles on the oil I would change the oil filter every 5k and do an autopsy on it to see if I could gage the amount and type of wear metal being captured.

I've been a 5K guy since the 1980's!

Never had an issue.

I see both Amsoil and Lucas have 80/90 with friction modifier already in.

The only experience I have with either of those, is it's what came in my big *** air compressor, and what's still in it.
