New to site. 1967 dart gts 440 / 410 gears / 3 spd auto / 3500 stall / altercations relocation kit in front / manual rack & pinion steering / mini tubs,caltracs,split mono leaf in rear / Black car with pear white interior. Car has the Hemi hood with 4"cowl. Want to build a 512 stroker from a 1978 400 block,herd some talk as to it may not fit under the hood, Any thoughts???
 
Welcome to FABO. If the 440 fits the 400 sure will.
 
i know the 4oo is a shorter deck by close to a inch. But i want to use max port heads which if im not mistakin r raised ports soo uing a good intake may run out of room??

Dart is kick a$$ . I have 440/505 stroker in a 68 barracuda fastback, which from pics seem to have the smallest engine bay after the early ones.
I run a victor intake on victor type raised port heads , the throttle body us up in the 6 pack scoop , ur scoop is bigger than mine , ur problem will be an air filter set up . I have messed with about 6-7 diff set ups , and have built the last 2 , not real pretty , but functional .
I`d use trickflow heads on a 400 block if doing another one , the additional height would help a bunch .
