how do you feel about electric performance cars?

-
Electric cars will be the future ... soon !

1. They cost less to operate and maintain .
2. They are faster
3. They are quieter
4. They are/or will be cheaper to build due to fewer parts
5. They have no emissions ( battery disposal could become a problem)
6. CONSUMERS WANT THEM ! Even in conservative Idaho. I hear it all the time .

Wait till the Rivia and Tesla pickup trucks hit the market. Rednecks will be standing in line to buy one...

I think you are wrong on a few points

1...Cost. Remains to be seen, "doubtful"
4...See no.1
5...No they DO NOT have "no emissions."
6...Really "we" do? I "just can't wait" to sit in some podunk Montana town with no charging facilities paying out the nose for some no 18 gauge extension cord I'm renting from some ripoff so I can get dowon the road

My sons freind took me for a ride in his Tesla. The quickest street car I was ever in. No noise. All you can hear is all four tires trying to grip. I was in a new Hellcat no comparison. My Duster wouldn't have stood a chance.

Never race a Tesla for cash on the street you will lose your money. It felt more like an amusement ride, The feeling in your gut from dead stop G-force is unbelievable.

Might be Steve, but the main reason I want a hotrod is noise. I will never have anything like the orange Duster you wrecked, that thing is a monster. But I'd RATHER have a bone stock dual exhaust 318 Dart than a damn Eveready powered Makita drill, I don't care how fast the damn thing is.

How many more components would you say a 4 valve DOHC engine has than an electric motor ?
Production costs will drop on motors and battery packs rapidly as production volume increases. ( how much does a big screen cost now)

Gas engines not onlyrequire fuel and oil replenishment they also require tune ups , air filters , timing belts , hoses fail , seals go bad ....and on and on....
Then we get to tranys and drivelines .

Yes there are emissions in the production of them .

I still like the gas engine experience but you cant ignore the realities of the market.

See earlier post just carry a generator :steering:

I think America is a long way away to being able to provide the power to charge all the cars on the road. We can't even keep up with A/C, and all the Peak Alerts now! Put every car pull'n power and every yard will be required to have at least 2 windmills... LOL

Or a generator

or a solar panel strapped to the roof OR a roof, deck lid and hood made out of solar panel material! never happen, they could not figure out how to tax you
That and they couldnt figure out how to get ANY useable power out of a solar cell array that small, maybe the stereo system....and the LED running lights.

PS>>did you see the range on that Tesla Roadster? 650 miles......but its $250,000 pre-sale now.

Volvo will be all electric in 3 years... or so it says .
Mercedes says 7...
Ford has Rivian based mules in F150 trim running around the country .

Yes there are emissions in the production of them ..

There is a hell of a lot more emissions that just "production." There IS NO "green" charging source nowadays, anywhere, of any type.

All you have to do to understand just how impractical this is --at least in the next, say, 50 years..........is compute the total energy used by today's present fuel driven vehicles, and convert that to "your choice" of equivalent electrical energy, whether HP, watts, or orange juice/ per feedlefobs. That figure will have to BE ADDED to the present power grid. And that energy has to come from somewhere, and be "transported" somewhere else.

There you have a good point. It will be an issue.

coming soon to a website near you "Forelectriccarsonly" or FECAL (literary license invoked)

Why does the US allow China and Europe to dictate what we build. We won the wars. And yet, they shove the half assed metric system down our throats, they determine what we drive because they pass laws over there, and the weak assed transglobal cabal that has been running American big business starting right after the civil war just jump in line.

No one was clamoring for this junk. For those of you who don't know your history, electric powered surface transportation LOST at the turn of the 20th century because it was useless. Now, the global warming hoax and retarded freaks who think they can control the weather are forcing this ignorant crap down our throats.

It's time to face facts. No one would buy an electric car if 1. We didn't have a bunch of morons who are influenced by a semi retarded European 13 girl who can't vote, drink, drive a car, sign a contract but she is somehow an expert on climate??? Really? WTF? And people actually buy into this ****? Damn.

And 2. If the government, which knows nothing, can do nothing, can build nothing would get out of the auto industry, gasoline powered surface transportation would rise to the top, in efficiency, power and reliability. It always has.

Instead, we give a multi billionaire freak HUGE subsidies (that's corporate welfare people) to build something no one wants.

Piss on electric cars. That's de-evolution.

Also, if you are old enough to have lived through the transnational cabal's wholly manufactured "oil crisis" in 1973-1974 then you know what a lie that was. Yet, that was the first big push to get Americans out of nice, fun V8 rear wheel drive cars into European Marxist inspired 4 cylinder FWD **** boxes. And it worked. Then public education went to work doing its baleful job of Marxist indoctrination convincing little retards that their fore fathers were criminals and earth hating bigots because they drove cool cars, rode motorcycles and had a standard of living to make the world neon green with envy. And look what we have just one generation later. This bullshit.

And don't even get me started on "peak oil" and "fossil fuels" which are both lies. Most people have no idea what crude oil is and where it comes from.

I find it amazing that some people completely deny the facts.
The fact is that ever since the industrial revolution humans started adding to the pollution in amounts that were not absorb able.
Yea, it wasn't a big deal when it was early on because the fauna on the planet was able to absorb the CO2 and return O2.
It's when the absorption of CO2 and return of O2 was overwhelmed by what we put out in pollution is where the problems began.
Then there's logging and clearing of forest lands for commercial uses that add to the lowered return of O2 while we increase the output of CO2.
And this is only the one compound we put in the air.

Yes, it doesn't bother a lot of us because we don't have to live with the affects much yet, but some are already paying for tipping the scales in an unrecoverable direction.

Think about it like this.
If one person farts in your living room it's not a huge deal if the windows are open a little and they did it at the other end of the room.
If 10 people fart in your living room the windows are not going to be enough to clear it, AND you are going to smell it clear at the other side of the room.

Right now it's 1 person farting at the other end of the room.
Won't be long before we will all be smelling it.

Yeah, heard the same argument from AOC, but it was about cows farting in a field.

I wonder what would happen if everybody farted at the same time? Humans cows Birds lions tigers and giraffes...
Would the sound be deafening?...

There would be some SBD's unaccounted for

Yea, since there are already some CO2 pollutants, why not just completely flood the world with all of them right?
That's like saying there is already oil in the ground so lets all just dump our old oil in our yards.

As far as I am concerned, the electric cars are pure bullshit, and here is why.
  • The entire bullshit green industry, including electric cars are all heavily subsidized by the U.S. taxpayer.
  • Electricity storage is nowhere near as portable or dense compared to liquid hydrocarbons, and will not be for a long time.
  • The battery packs do wear out over time. What is going to be done with these dangerous and toxic things at the end of their life? Are we just going to be NIMBYs and send them off to China or India, so somebody else's kids get fucked up with those toxic things?
  • The entire lifetime cost of these is hidden, I do not know what it is, that data is not readily available to me, and that tells me it is a LOT worse than those pushing these boondoggles want us to know.
If these things can compete on a fair and level playingfield, without government subsidies, if one could "fill up the tank" in a matter of minutes such that the TIME investment is competitive with liquid hydrocarbons, if the disposal of the end of life parts is made abundantly clear, if the electrical grid were robust enough to support a HUGE hammering at around 5-9 pm that even a 5% of the population would put to it, if the population actually CONSIDERED where their magical unicorn rainbow fart dust electricity came from...

As far as I'm concerned, it's a huge scam.

Ottmunder

All of that has some truth to it
But its worth keeping an open mind just in case.
If I here a tick in my motor I am not going to assume its a header leak and not check into it.
