I'm hearing rumours that EngineQuest is dropping production of the EQ318B Magnum heads with the LA style bolt pattern for the intake, anybody else heard this ???

I hope not! They are great heads with the LA bolt pattern. I'm running a set on my Duster.

I've emailed A&A Midwest for an answer as calling isn't the best option for us Australians, time differences and all that. So far they haven't replied. I've also tried Jegs which were no help, usual peanut answer as they didn't read the question properly before replying.

I'll be really disappointed if they have dropped them, I really wanted a cast head with LA bolt pattern so I can run LA Style manifolds as I like top hose outlet location and the crossover hose to waterpump just works out better when running LA timing cover and so on.

Brian (IMM) commented on a FB thread related to this
.... “Enginequest is phasing out heads as well, we now have an import aluminum head that makes similar power at a similar cost.”

Which group did he post on? On wonder what import head he is referring to.

I confirmed with Hughes, AAmidwest and IMM, EQ heads and Indy iron heads are no longer being made.

To bad this is typical mopar items made for awhile then phased out not as big a market as GM and no factory support in the aftermarket world intakes limited for the magnum heads like always we're screwed

From what I was told the iron heads were made at the same foundry and there was maybe money trouble so they either closed or cut way back on what they made.

It's a bummer for sure. I'm running a set of these heads and I have another engine I wanted to build with these heads. They're great iron heads. I'm happy with them.

Good to know. I bought a set on ebay yesterday, there was only 3 sets left if you are interested. * they are ch318a though so you will need a magnum intake.*

I spoke with Stephan Richards from A&A yesterday about the CH318B Magnum Head with LA intake bolt pattern and he stated that there is no future casting date for this head. He does not know if and when they will be available and can not give an answer as to why. The CH318A is still available, so that only leaves 2 choices for intakes, Eldebrock And the Chinese knock off!

I'm using the Edelbrock one thing I do not like is the location of the thermostat housing won't be able to use stock hose it will be awhile till I have to figure that out

Indy cylinder head makes a intake for the 360 magnum.

Intake pick. This is not my intake just one I found on line.

If they are anything like the stock magnum heads where the intake bolts are have them drilled or after im finished with the loaner plates you can get in line to use them and drill the heads yourself.

Beware of a seller on eBay showing stock available of the CH318B heads, I bought and paid for a set 2 days ago and received an email today saying they are discontinued and they don't have stock. As you can imagine I'm not real happy with them and I have asked for a full refund, we'll see how that goes.

That sucks. Speedmaster has the air gap magnum style intake on sale right now for $135 if you get the ch318a heads instead.

Hey old thread and all but what is the speed master part number? The ch318a doesn’t come up and couldn’t find magnum heads on their site. What you described is exactly what I’m after. Thanks for the help.

Speedmaster air gap intake knock off is sku 1-147-028, $226 is drilled for both magnum and LA heads. Hope this helps.

Just called EQ as they are local to me. They said they are continuing the head but its not the New Zealand head, it's more of a stock replacement but still drilled with the LA bolt pattern.
