I'm not sure which one of these Cam and lifters I want to put in? 73 D100, granny 4-speed, 355 gear, 1 tire fire, 235/75/15.. 318 with 150 lbs cracking pressure, 2 barrel, single stock exhaust...
I'm just stabbing the cam in and lifters with a new timing chain and gears..
New oil pump and reseal the motor..
It will likely be one of these two cheap cams from Summit but I'm just back and forth on which one?.. I will be adding power brakes. I'm probably just a direct line from the intake manifold..

Any suggestions are welcome thank you..

If it's not going to see above 3500 rpms, I'd leave the stock cam in it. Put a new timing set in it, work with the curve in the distributor. JMO

No I don't see it going to thirty-five hundred RPMs for any reason.
I was more looking to breathe a little life into it make it sound good and look good.. give it a little Rumble make it sound like it's got something going on maybe.. what it looks good sounds good and runs good it seems to sell a little easier...?..
Trust me I would rather not spend the money.

If your keeping the single exhaust, I'd be looking toward this direction, especially if your not planning on changing valve springs, etc. Melling M-Select Class 1 Camshafts 23103 If my present situation were better and I were closer, I'd already be there trying to buy it from you. I still miss my '73 D100. Same options but mine had a \6. Got any pics?

Plenty of pictures on grandson of seed truck...

Get a custom Jones cam. Pay them 350 dollars for a custom cam goin in a old POS truck, cause that's the best thing according to forum gurus.

You want a good cam for that truck, seriously? Put the Crane magic cam in it. It'll cost a little more than the Summit cam but man that'll set it on fire. All these self proclaimed forum gurus will scoff at the 114 LSA but I have real world experience with it. It flat WORKS.

Thanks, Rusty! May be wanting to try that one myself. What ICL do you like to put that on?

Totally dependent on what the static compression is. 110 at the "least" and probably somewhere down around 106 at the "most". It just depends.

Remember I'm just trying to give it just the slightest bit of life and Rumble..
This is going in an old granny 4-speed truck..
A 494 lift with stock Springs.. I think by the time I do lifters break in oil and all that crap I'll be well over $200.. I'm trying to keep costs low because I'm just fixing it up to sell.. I would think this would be a more viable option if I was sticking this motor in my Duster?...

If you refuse to replace the springs, then leave the stock cam in it. ANY new camshaft should get new springs.

3.55s and 27” tall tires ? I cant see how you won’t see over 3500 rpms unless its a farm truck. I would give it a few more RPMs.

I RARELY rev my truck to 3K. It has 3.73 gears and no OD with 238/85 16s.....however tall they are.

I know my Duster has 354's with 27 3/4 in. tires and I'm at 3k at 65 mph...

FWIW when I bought the K6900 Crane was grinding Summit cams. Don't know about now, it's been a few years.

Should get..
I'm already not parting/scrapping the truck.. I'm trying to give it just a little bump and not wanting to go down a rabbit hole.. the $122.99 is a stretch..
If this was 30 years ago I'd go to the wrecking yards and pull a cam and lifters out of a la 360..
If this was something I was keeping it would get the completely different treatment..

I'm not saying build the whole engine. Just not to cut corners on certain things. DO it like you want to. Good luck with it.

I have the cam in a 73 W200 360/auto with factory 4.10 's. sweet cam

Pull the trigger, no need to change springs for the intended purpose of a truck.
That's exactly what I was thinking..
If I was going to Rev this up or use it for some kind performance or something and keep it again that would be a different story...

It's just another thing that's starting down the rabbit hole...
Of course I split the transmission from the motor and it needs a new clutch..
I pull the motor and it needs new motor mounts.. of course I've already bought a timing chain and gears because we know that's going to need it.. I just sent for the new floor boards.. I just sent for the gasket kit so the motor can be resealed..
I'm giving the truck my power steering box and pump that I have from another truck as well as power brakes.. I have a steering wheel from the last truck that's not cracked.. I have a rear view mirror you can actually see out of... it's going to need all new U joints and carrier bearing..
New gear oil in the rear end and the Transmissions.. it's going to need new door seals and carpet to cover the floor boards that I put in..
I need to K.I.S.S....

I didn't say your suggestion wasn't good I just don't think it's necessary for this particular application...

New springs are necessary for any new camshaft, regardless of application. But it's your truck and if you want to cut corners that shouldn't be cut, then have at it. I don't give a crap what your opinion is, it's wrong here. If that's what you want, just leave the engine alone. That's what I'd do. I would leave the engine as is and concentrate on making the body nice.
