I have a 65 Dart and I am replacing the broken heater blower motor. When I removed the heater box I noticed that some wiring was hanging loose. I thought I could figure it out as I had a wiring diagram http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/1965/65DartA.jpg for the car.

My problem is the diagram shows the wiring to the switch and resistor but NOT to the blower motor, or any grounds. I have hooked up everything but am left with two brown wires joined at an eyelet terminal. Are these brown wires supposed to be the blower motor ground????

They were loose when I started and suspect that they should be screwed down (as it is an eyelet terminal) to achieve ground - but I am not sure. Any advise appreciated.
Thanks.
Michael

As you surmised it is secured with a screw and is the ground for the heater. Pull the passenger kick panel and you should hopefully find a hole where it’s fastened.

I looked at the car this morning and the brown wire is screwed into the body behind the kick panel. This loose wire (actually two wires in the eyelet) has been just flopping loose on top of the heater box. It should screw down somewhere - but I don't see where. Any suggestions?

I’m not exactly sure but suspect it might go to the blower motor. On my 65 there was only 1 wire in the eyelet.

Brown wire is a ground and is screwed through the retaining bracket holding the two heater core tubes were it exits the box and goes through the firewall. The end of the brown wire is grounded behind the right kick panel.

Get the shop manual from the same website. The factory wire diagram is in the back of th electrical chapter. They are not perfect but they are better than what you have linked to. That's ripped from a Chiltons or Mitchels or the like.

This is something many guys on here do not seem to understand. So to make this clear if you can find an applicable FACTORY service manual to download there, and you might have to settle for Dodge instead of Plymouth or other way around, that is "usually" the most accurate, although some years DO HAVE errors

The "other" wiring diagrams there at MyMopar (all two pages) are NOT FACTORY wiring, and often leave out options, or mark connectors poorly, etc. They are however useful, and sometimes easier to follow than factory ones.
