What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Pulled my poor old and tired 273 Commando out today :(

Getting the 5.9 ready :). Need to switch over a couple of things and paint it. Waiting for a converter from PTC. Also going to replace the front pump seal, and clean up the bay, and...and...

Finished cutting out a section of the upper transmission cross member to make some room for the A500. Cut it at the bottom, just inside of the inner tranny crossmember bolt holes. And drilled out 4 spot welds at the top. The flat piece is 1/4" thick by 2-1/2. That's what I'll be welding in, in place of what I removed.

No line lock. I'm just asking for trouble if I did that. Besides I'm running Good year Bias Plys. Too expensive to burn up.

Is that a gear vendor on the output? Almost a must have to go very far. I figuerd that out jyst doing a mile long burnout loop waiting to get painted. Have to have some fun!
Yep gear vendor.

Drove it last on November 22. November 23 had surgery for tennis elbow of all things! My tendon was actually partially torn in my elbow. So its tucked away for a while while I heal. Cant drive a 4 speed with no power steering with one arm!
Catching up on my beer drinking though.

What I did to my car this week....

I brought in the shop to pull the V8 and V8 k frame I installed a few years ago to place a slant k frame and slant six.

The slant has a 3 speed on it and I prefer that over an auto so i am gathering the parts to get that plumbed and cut a hole in the floor

Umm, isn't that supposed to be the other way around? Most people pull the /6 for a V8!
Yes. 99.9% of the time, that is how it goes.

I wanted a slant six car so my original intent was to make this scamp my muscle car and I was going to buy a 4 door valiant to put a slant in and use as a driver.

End of 2019 and I never did find the 4 door valiant I was looking for but I did find and bought a 72 demon slant six car.

Then I started thinking a demon is more of a muscle car than a scamp. So I'm trading the drivelines and now the scamp is to become the slanty powered driver and the demon is to become the muscle with the v8 I pulled from the scamp.

I cannot argue with that logic. Great idea! That explains why you didn't take the time to rattle can that k frame and engine before installation!

The engine and K frame have to come out again when the engine compartment gets painted so everything can be painted then, right now I'm trying to get it complete and running and I only had the garage available for a few days before the next snow storm so kinda had to hurry this go round.

It all makes sense now! Carry on and keep us posted on your progress!

You have the gaskets in 100% correct. That's so the water drains around the hole and not thru it. Don't let people tell you otherwise. :)
