but this is a new one to me! I bought a Ramcharger a while back. Sadly it had a running but oil pressureless engine between the inners. So I bought a van for the 360 and proceeded to do the deed. Well, when I got to the torque converter, this was staring me in the face! Some people just shouldn’t work on vehicles. This engine had been changed and not only this was wrong, but it had a 318 stuffed in to replace the original 360, without changing the torque converter either. Oh, and I now know that a 318 with a car oil pan will fit in a 77 Ramcharger!

I agree totally. Fortunately as you all could guess, it was only the one. Imagine that!

TWEAKER MOVE !
yep, don't let them around cars, farm equipment, wheel barrels, or chicken coops..

So you really DONT need to change out the flywheel when you swap a 318 in for a 360

Good to know

Stupid knows no bounds. When I bought my GTS, the previous owner had paid a shop to replace the 340 engine that had windowed the block with a new MP 360 Magnum crate engine.

Apparently the shop knew little about Mopars and ignored the fact that the car already had a ballast resistor and installed the new Mopar electronic distributor, controller box AND ballast resistor on top of what was already there...giving the car 2 ballast resistors in line to the coil.

No wonder the engine had no guts when I got it. The coil was running on half power to the distributor.

One look and I was like WTF??

I have not confirmed the flexplate is or isn’t 360, it was bolted up so I presume he changed that. But the converter is definitely weighted for external balance!

Don't judge, maybe that was a 4am, gotta go to work and lost the bolts deal?

It was a good penetrating weld!
He actually lost all the bolts. He only got 3 cheese bolts with washers in because he didn’t line the converter up properly. Instead of starting
over............zap!

That was what I thought you'd find, may not have known that 1 is offset, and just decided that it was easier than starting over. Duh

That’s what I figured too. The worst part is he tried until he totally destroyed the hole. Different converter had to go in.

Well, I have been amazed two times in two vehicles! First the welded torque converter. Then when I tried to fire up the 360 once installed, it wouldn’t hit? Hmmmm. I thought for sure it looked like the plug wires were correct before I removed them. It ran so good I didn’t want to mess with the distributor. Well when I put the cap back on I didn’t realize the previous owner had installed the distributor 180 out..........or did he? I put it on as it should be but no go. Well, what are the chances? Yup. He jammed the cap on backwards! I tried and sure enough it fired right up! Changed the wires to proper and life is good. It runs like a charm! :)
Im getting closer to seeing it all every day! Not!

Now that's one I've not heard of before, seen many incorrect firing orders, and GM or Ford distributors being a cog or two off, but putting the cap on backwards? Too cool, lol
