Post 11 second small block combos

Updated time - 11.77@114 @ 5900ft da (Sea level is gonna be a blast)

I broke some top end stuff, so ended up buying new trickflows and getting it all sorted. This was the shake down run 32* total timing and baby soft launch, 1st and 2nd gear were shifted at 5500rpm and it sounded and felt good so I let it ride out 3rd, now through the traps at almost 7000rpm (6400-6500 with the other heads).

2nd run, Shift light set at 6500, footbrake to 2500, timing at 34*. Launched so hard it threw me back in the seat and pulled my seat mount through the floor which caused me to shift into 2nd about the 60ft mark. Still ran 11.83. I guess i'm gonna need to strengthen some stuff.
Update ish..
11.72@114.12 @ 7,859ft DA...still all steel minus back seat.

Few things... But the one that really pissed me off was the helicoils for the rocker shafts were pulled out and Bam. Not gonna use bolts again. lol

What was your assessment? Soft aluminum, poor threading and helicoiling? Not enough bolt thread engagement?

I'm guessing poor threading and helicoil.. I threw the heads in a box, i'll trya nd fix them later, maybe i'll get lucky and use them on another engine.

What were the springs, cam lift and rocker ratio specs you were running? Thanks

Howards solid roller, .640/.645 1.5 rockers.. can't remember the springs, but they were even on the light side for a solid roller cam.

I do have to make a correction, right now I have the PTC converter in, during these passes there was what I think is a 4500 stall j converter. I sort of blow thru it in the video, hopefully it won’t be as bad and I make a 10 second pass with the Craigslist engine.

Eventually I will build a better engine (goal is a low low 10 second car in hot weather) with forged pistons, better rods and a forged stock stroke crank.

At Rockingham Dragway (elev 426’) multiple December 2019 55 degree weather runs in 11.75-11.82 @ 110-112 range, weight at that time with driver was 3570lbs give or take. July 25,2020 run in sweltering 90 degree heat, same setup but with van weight reduction of 200 lbs (now 3370 lbs w/ driver, 3150 lbs van only) and addition of double adjustable QA1’s front/rear, only run I got in was a 11.98 @ 109+ Was setup for a better run in the slightly cooler evening but had line lock brake drag issue and ended up running a throwaway run. Will be shooting for runs in similar cooler weather come fall for a better apples to apples comparison (from the 200 lb weight reduction as well as learning the shocks) So high 11’s now, with weight loss, shocks and better temps I’m hoping for something in 11.6@113 range maybe better :)
