ALERT!! SOUND THE ALARM!!..

Just a quick update. I still have not seen a tracking number, but a set of big block heads just showed by FedEx, signature required for receipt. So they are definitely splitting orders to get them out because other items did not arrive yet.
These heads are the assembled big block with 265cc intake runners, as cast. They were in ProComp boxes, and I did see a date of 2014 on one of them.
same heads I got... pro com boxes and 2014 heads.

I think I told that story maybe on another thread my friend having Pro Comp heads on his big block and a catastrophic failure at the top of the track 10 years ago....
oh, yeah. well, believe this or not, the big block heads have less spring pressure than the small block heads, so ……….. so so......

Received some parts outta the blue Friday, today I received the tracking number ! :)

I know there was a period of time early on with the BB heads when the assembled heads were being shipped with valves that were too long, and had too big of a head diameter.
I repaired(well, finished repairing) a set a couple of years ago that had been set up that way.
I thought it was probably a one time mistake, but since then I’ve seen other reports of people getting them that way.

Those heads were shipped with BBC valves...... 1.88/2.25...... that were about .250 too long.

The ones I had here had all the guides totally wasted in short order, then the too-big-for-the-heads valves start clipping each other...... and then they break off.
That’s what happened to the set I had here.

At the time that head was repaired, a new bare head was a little over $400.......plus it would have needed prep and porting to match the other one.
For what the were selling the bare heads for on Black Friday, it would have been a no brainer to just buy a new head.

Oh man, a set of small block stainless rockers showed up with more cylinder heads. Assembled small block CNC ported heads in Speedmaster boxes with 2014 on one, and didn't check the second yet. Also a set of bare small block as-cast heads in Speedmaster boxes with 2017 on both. Only item not received yet is small block valve covers, and their website says out of stock. They must be getting caught up with orders now.

My fingers are crossed the newer 2017 heads have better valve guides installed. Being this has been an ongoing issue hopefully they spent an extra 10-20.00 for quality control. Anyone with a brain would.

Looks like that sale helped SM move some inventory thats been sitting on the shelves literally for years.

The 210cc BB heads I have here have no dates on them.

Maybe they decided they no longer want people to know how long the stuff sits on the shelf?

and I'm betting that's why they did the 40% sale. For them, 60% of the money was better than no money.

A couple people, in one of these threads, mentioned going to them about a moved pushrod version, I think these dates pretty much confirm that will never be a thing.

My heads also had 2014 on them, must have done a run of SBM heads in 14/15 and been sitting on the shelf ever since.

Nothing here yet. Cant reach anyone on the phone or email. Should of just milled and fully ported my 915s. Just hate porting cast iron. Thought this would save me some time. I must learn patients.

The one thing you need to know about patients is that you'll need a lot of patience. Sick people are really needy.

I don’t think they got rich on the deal. Heck when I couldn’t get the free shipping added to mine the shipping quote was over 200.00 from California to Pa.
