Trick Flow heads

Engine masters needs to blow the cobwebs off that 408 with the killer heads and bolt a set of these on and give it a whirl. I am sure the conversation has been discussed at the round table already....

They should do a 4 way comparison with
Stock/ Eddie / Trick Flow / W2

I went with W2 for the nostalgia and because I dont want a big hunk of aluminum atop my engine. I am going for a stockish look.
I like the sleeper effect.

Yeah, that looks really stock. :poke::lol:
What I like about it is outside of the Holley, single plane and headers, it could pass for any old iron headed build. Crap! He could say;

“Ya man, just a factory iron headed engine build, basic low buck approach, I ain’t made of money! You know these MoPars are expensive!”

Followed by; “Fast? IDK, it’s all right I guess, why? Ya wanna go?!?!”
And then hand out a pasting.

It really doesn’t look any different than what most guys were doing early on in the ‘70’s to the mid ‘80’s until the Edelbrock head came out and started to catch on.

Heck! He can even tell them to go get there magnet and stick it to the head for there own justification. And he will just smile as he crosses the line. But you know inside it’s the evil scientist laugh....

The W2 WILL move you right well. Like anything else. You just have to want to do a set. The price of these is actually close so it can be comparable. Any aftermarket head that comes loaded may not meet your build criteria. Starting with the springs. So now your replacing springs and that may roll into locks and retainers which are cheap enough. I’d say the aftermarket valves are great for most guys here. W2’s come bare for your choice of gear. It’s a balancing act.

Once the factory aircleaner is on with a dropped base its hard to tell its even got a single plane. But once the key is turned all notions of stock vanish .. lol

My cost on these are really not much more than Eddies.
The heads were bought from a FABO member for 900.00 NIB.
Found a deal on Ferrea 2.02/1.60 Valves and some Tool Steel Comp retainers.1
Shady Dell Stage 2 Porting /drilled for rocker oiling / polished and CCd / .010 off surface for $1000.
The rockers are HS 1.6:1s that I got new from them at a discount (800$) because they went thru the anodizing process wrong .
The intake is a NOS Victor I paid $200 for.
TTI 1 7/8 coated headers I got on sale from CPPA for $650.
Everything else is same price for all small blocks.

Are they EVER going to cut that thing loose? I'm ready for it.

I tried to get that out of the guys at the TrickFlow tent at Norwalk in October and all they would say is soon. Not that I think it will be better than what I already have but they have a free to enter race during The Halloween Classic for guys running their heads or intake.

I don't think it will be leaps and bounds better than a good SD but those are getting hard to find. I'm hoping they made the runners with some room to open them up so I don't have to do anymore welding than I already do.

Ya I have a brand new Victor 340 I got a little hole in. I may just hit it with some Splashzone epoxy and be done with it.

For what? To bolt to that empty R block laying on the garage floor... :realcrazy:......

Nope. The R block is getting W2 heads so that won't work. I already have that intake. I just need to build the Dominator plate, mill the intake, fit the plate, weld it out, port the intake and I'm golden.
