Slant Six Intake and Fuel Injection!

So guys, as most of you know, our go to has been Aussie Speed for our aluminum intakes.
But! I just found a company here, stateside, that does just as my title here says!

So, what did it cost?
Did you need a new fuel pump?
Did it come with injectors and a throttle body?
How long did it take you to install it?
E/T improvement?
What did it do for cold starts and gas mileage?

Go to their shop project "Lab Rat" for all that info. Its very detailed. I cannot use their manifold because of the super charger I'm using for my build. They also make fuel rails for the Slant.
Its $800 for the manifold, includes the fuel rail. You need to supply injectors and a Jeep 4.0L throttle body. And yes, you'll need a new fuel pump. Our stock pumps only supply 5-7 psi at the carb. You'll need around 55psi to run fuel injection

How does fuel injection work in a slant 6? I read the Lab Rat page and some pages on carburetors and fuel injection, but is it just a mechanical system that would provide better amounts of fuel/air to the cylinders in a stock engine here?
 
EFI constantly monitors the A/F mixture via the exhaust gas O2 sensor and adjusts the injector duty cycle (richer or leaner charge) for optimum burn and power. It also atomizes the fuel closer to the valve to keep its surface area at its maximum burn stage. When you drag air and heavy fuel down an 8 inch sweeping runner that is not heated, your going to lose some atomization of the fuel. With EFI, the injectors are close to the valve and the intake becomes 'dry', only a conduit of light air: it could go through a maze and not hurt the process (look at some modern plastic intakes!) On cold starts, its a real delight to turn the key to on, wait 3 seconds and hit the starter without even setting a choke or touching the gas pedal. On cruise, the EFI can lean itself out to an extent and increase mileage, never running richer than needed. VW cheated and let the engines run very lean for economy on the street, but that increases NOX output. When they were in dyno roller 'test mode' (probably sensing the rear wheels ABS not moving?) , they did not allow that and therefor passed federal emissions. Sneaky Krauts!

Its electronic fuel injection, controlled by a Megasquirt ecu. There are other options out there, like Holley EFI, that are self learning and all that jazz, but those are just fancy throttle body injection systems. Port side injection, which this system is, is way more efficient in fuel consumption, power output and driveability.

detroit diesel got caught doing similer few years after the 60 series came out, there's was set up to go lean in test mode but still got nuff fuel to pull good!
