I am working on a 1970 Plymouth Duster, and need the plastic clips that attach the rocker panel molding/trim to the rocker panel. The part number molded into the clip is 6002840. These clips go into holes in the rockers. They are not the later style that slide onto a pin, which are available from most of the restoration suppliers. I will attach 2 pictures. The first one is the front side. The second picture shows the back side, and there should be small plastic fingers around the plastic pin in the center, but they are broken off. Dimensions are about 1.75"x1". Does anyone know where I could get some of these clips. This would be a good part for one of the restoration suppliers to start making.

BTW push out the center post BEFORE you try to remove any of those or similar clips as the center post acts like a wedge and pinches the ears of the clip to the body panel. if you can get to the underside puse it out to the outside of the car, if not push it in to the body panel or maybe drill a small hole down the center and try a screw pull it out to the outside of the car.

Thank you. We now know how to remove them, but we will still need replacements for the damaged ones.

wasn't trying to point out the obvious just trying to save others from my mistakes. it's all good!

I understand exactly what you are saying.
We broke the first few clips before realizing that pin was a separate piece, and it needed to come out first.

When I looked for my 70 Duster I couldn't find anyone reproducing the correct clips. I ended up buying these clips on eBay. They fit the factory trim holes on my Duster perfectly and are inexpensive. All I need to do is cut off the little tab on front of the clip and then trim the two edges down a little to fit the 2" molding as the clips are 2 7/8" wide.

I really appreciate the information. I saw some references to people using those clips and I wondered how well they fit the holes in the body. It is good to know that someone has used them successfully. If none of the correct ones show up by the time I am ready to reinstall the moldings then I will definitely order a pack of these clips. The only thing that bothers me about those clips is that there is no gasket to seal up the holes in the rocker panel and keep water from running inside the rocker when I wash it, but I am probably over thinking the small details.
 
I am still looking for some of these clips. I have some good recommendations for alternatives to try if I can't find them, but I would really like to get the original part #6002840 clips if possible. I have already checked with the major parts suppliers.

No gasket with the originals either.

The plastic fit snug to the circumference of the hole when the lock pin was inserted.

Thank you for the reply. I was not 100% sure about the gasket, but I found an internet picture of that clip and it has a dark ring that I thought was a small round dirty foam gasket. I will attach the picture. Let me know what you think. Maybe it is just a ring of dirt. It is hard to tell from that picture.

JB weld works wonders holding those Bad Boys in place with no leaks. Just sayin.
 
An adhesive is an option, but I do prefer my builds to be be as correct as possible. The show car judges and magazine photographers do notice the small details and I don't want any of my future customers to think that I would cut corners on a high end build.
