Hood Tach...should I mount it on my Valiant?

-
Don't like it on an early A. I have always like your car the way it sits, one of my favorite cars on the site. 70 Dart, 72 Demon, 74 Dart Sport, ok. Your car, not so much.

Thanks! I agree with the early-a thing, that was actually why I started this. Years ago I seen a 74 Road Runner in junkyard, it still had a complete 400 4bbl in it and a 4-speed minus the shifter and trans...bought the clutch pedals out of it. I noticed it still had a RR hood on it and it had the hole and outline of a hood tach but the gauge was gone...and I always think about that...I have a 74 Satellite with a RR hood and just hate the idea of drilling a hole in my hood....but like how it looks.

Ok, how about this? I hate to drill holes in it...this is roughly the area it would have been mounted...I like it better on this car to be honest. If I put it on this one I would probably paint the tach brown but not sure I could match it perfect....but my hood is not matched perfect to the car either....that old paint still looks good even dirty!

$1100 dollar hood
There is also a 73' Road Runner 400HP Basin Street Blue that lives here. That is the last year for any type of cool hood for any Mopar I would not.

Wish I had bought that other hood 20 some years ago.....:BangHead:

We all wish for past purchases we let pass .....even some recent, a 60x40 barn gets full too.

Go for it Keith! I think the tachometer on the hood will add more 70s street look to it. Besides you have already cut the hood.

I bet you'll find that you can't actually see it well most of the time.

If I had the pentastar one I would definitely cut a hole in the hood no big deal.. I just buy an extra hood and put it in my shed in case I don't want it... (The nice part about a 73 Duster)...
But I run both of my blue pentastar medallions on my direct connection air filters as well...
If you come across an original with a pentastar I would be a buyer for sure...

Better fit on Satellite, however,
If you decide to use on valiant, I'd keep it hood color, IMO.

I like it on the Satellite better than the 66. Can always patch hood when you get around to painting car if you want to go a different route

Thanks, it was my very first car! 1974 Satellite Sebring Plus, 318 car but I swapped in a 1969 340 my senior year in 1995

I had a '73 Sebring Plus with a 400. Wish I had kept it, but it would have been better with a 318. Looked just like this.

Problem with hood tachs is that its dangerous to drive with cheaters on ...lol

I'd go to a decal shop and have a couple Chrysler Parts decals made, we have several graphics places around here that makes decals any size you want and they use quality 3M decal tape. If it were me I'd put one on the Valiant, don't think I could bring myself to cut the Roadrunner hood.
