Slant six Muffler!

-
I may just get a stock-ish pipe/muffler setup and go back to a single exhaust. Me thinks she might breath a little too freely
I like single exhausts with aftermarket mufflers, I once built some "power-pipe" style headers for my car, stock cam , only thing I noticed is like you said sounds like a sworm of bees behind ya lol, after that I was like ehhh… so I stuck the manifold back on, idk to each their own. I have a 65 barracuda \6 904 btw...

but that sworm of bees sound I only noticed it with only split headers, ive never noticed it with a stock manifold to a flow master 40 serious or a 10

Slants weren't built to rumble. Don't waste time tryin to make one sounds like a V8. If you want a V8, get one. To me, a good hot slant sounds like a heard of pissed off killer bees. I kinda like that sound.

Best slant I ever heard was in a rail at the Antique Drags at California Speedway, it sounded exactly like that herd of bees until the light turned green. Then it sounded like the world's largest man bending over and splitting the *** out of the world's largest pair of Levi's. Impressive to say the least.

My wagon has a 14" glasspack on it and sounds pretty darn good. It does drone a bit at freeway speeds, but its not overbearing, and the wagon's got no carpets in it to dampen the sound.

I have a simple 2-1/4" pipe & tail with a Maremont super turbo w/2-1/2" in & out. Don't ask why the large muffler with the smaller pipes, long story. Sounds good for a stock motor & exhaust, and I'm sure my backpressure is close to zero with this.

Im thinking I have not enough back pressure. Like it sucks it back in before the pulse fully clears the tail pipe.

seinfeld idk shrug.gif

It has that sound, because it has dual exhaust. Slants respond and sound better with an HP single exhaust. Either port a stock manifold outlet to 2.5" and go that all the way out, OR run something like the Dutra Duals, or 3 into two headers. Then merge them into one big pipe just under the driver's seat. This will give the best scavenging. It'll sound better, too.

:thankyou:

I have Clifford 6 into 2 at present and do not want to change them out...yet.

The issue may lie with the Flow bastard 40's hanging out down here...

Thinkin' they need to go. Then replace it with new pipes and 2 small-ish resonators on each side out back?

Btw, I liked your 'Walker, Georgia Marshal' avatar better. lol

Those look like Super 10s to me. A 40 is MUCH bigger.

Walker makes a economy muffler. Thinner gauge steel. It has a somewhat muscle sound like a low compression 340 stock factory muffler. Not exactly but makes someone think you have some beef under the hood. As time goes buy, it sounds better.

sounds ok, I like the stock manifold, I ended up rebuilding my exhaust to a 2 1\4 inch because of ground clearance, 2 1\2 was real tight over the rear end, idk how some people get away with 3 inch without raking up the back of the abodies, I have a 40 serious on it and I love the note, sounds great
I'm looking to do the same, I have the 2 1/4" manifold currently with the small stock pipe and a 2bbl carb.
Do you have a video/audio of your system? Any drone running down the highway?

I can't stand Flowbastard 40 or 44 series on anything.

Edited because of damn auto correct

Dutra Duals with the Y connected right behind the transmission crossmember and an Accurate Exhaust Hemi muffler....
