are you on the road yet??

I got snowed on. It started snowing while I was under the truck. I got the starter on tho.
Truck not running yet because the GEM replacement is not here yet.
Talk about a pain in the butt to get out of rhe dash. The starter replacement was easier.
Only got 2 inches or so of snow.
Great it's 60 one day and 30s with snow the next. Oh well it is the first week of January.

Well I'm waiting for the parts for the Ford to show up and the radiator for the Ram 1500. I've got another project I'm trying to get finished. Here is a picture of it.

Just finished putting the new radiator in the 1500. Easiest r & r of a radiator I've ever done.
The rock auto rear brakes for it showed up today. Maybe I can get those done this week also.
Hoping the gem for the ford gets here tomorrow.

Yeah, radiators are easy on them, I had to do the one in my 98... Took me a little over 3 beers if I remember right.

I'm thinking pinion in rear end... but don't know for sure.

One of these warm dry days put it in neutral and crawl under it and see if you can wiggle the drive shaft up and down. And see if the pinion moves.

See how far you can turn the driveshaft back and forth also.

The hits just keep on rolling. So I've got the new radiator in the ram I go to Home Depot. I come outside and there's antifreeze under the truck. And I think well maybe that was there before I parked so I pull it into another parking space that has nothing on the ground. I step out of the truck and there is antifreeze pouring from the front of the motor down to the frame and running everywhere. Looks to be coming out of the water pump behind the pulley. So I loosen the radiator cap to where it's just barely tightened down. And the leak slows down so I'm thinking all right fill it with antifreeze and head for home. So I stopped to fuel up and it's not leaking anymore. I'm thinking am I out of antifreeze. No it's just not leaking anymore. So is my radiator cap causing all these problems. It's the second cap I've had on this truck. But if it's sticking I could see it blowing the end tank seals out of the radiator to besides blowing the seal out of the water pump. However I drove it home I pull in the driveway and it's not leaking again. So I'm going to try a different cap on it today see what happens.

Now the Ford. Should have gotten the g e m today at least but it didn't show up. So I called the outfit whose located in St Louis Missouri and ask him where's my part. So they had screwed up my email address and hadn't sent me the tracking numbers. So the guy checks it out. My part is in Texas. The US Post Office sent it to Irwin Texas and now it's on its way back to Peoria Illinois. I'm hoping I get some frequent flyer miles from this.

Of course today is 50 degrees out and I can be putting that part in but it's enjoying a plane ride across America instead.

Wow, man, you gotta turn that around and right the ship! Hopefully your part for the Ford arrives soon and gets ya on the road. If your ram took a leak out the water pump, I'd replace it regardless of the cap.

Hopefully you got a few things worked out....

Getting there, finally got the title to the truck so it is on the road. We have two going now and just ordered some parts. Fortunately I have a 3 day a week job right now or I would have had to quit to work on everything.

well, at least it sounds like it's starting to turn in your favor....

This is the first day off that I haven't had to work on something, and to be honest, I am being lazy.

Well the ups man just delievered the chain case cover for my 1845C case skid loader. So its operational again. I hated using it without it cuz you just get dirt and crap into your chain case.

I have no idea where the old cover went it's just gone. It's not down inside the machine and it's not over here at my garage where I had the machine while I was replacing a drive chain. It's like it vanished.
Now let it snow. I usually put and 8 foot Western Snow Plow on it. I don't have to. The bucket does a good job by itself.

Now this will be the pot calling the kettle black....... But man.... you mis-placing parts... lol

Put a differant radiator cap on the ram friday and drove it. Drove it agin today no leaks. It has a new water pump on it from the previous owner. I'm keeping a close eye on it.
The rest of the brake parts from rock auto showed up today too.
The GEM showed up for the ford today, finally. It snowed most of the day here and is suppose to tomorrow too. It figures. Monday is going to be in the high 40s, I think. I'll put it in then probably.

put all cars in the driveway.... but the '85 RC. We took that across town for supper :) we got a sheet of ice on everything, then snow covered it (not much). A plow just went by as I'm typing....

Crawled under the ford dash to put the new gem in it. There was water dripping from above where the gem mounts. I get out and on top of the truck roof is a little bit of melting snow. As it is melting the water crosses the roof over to the outside driverside clearance light then runs around the light then runs off the roof.

So before I remount the gem I need to pull the headliner to get to the bolts that hold the clearance light on and reseal them.

I guess the best part of all this ford stuff is, it's not my truck, it's my wifes.
Shes been a little angel about the whole mess.

But I did save a ton of money when I switched to GEICO.
