Hey guys happy New Year been awhile since I've been on here been fighting with old 66 dart 383 .30 over I have an old offy dual quad tunnel ram love the old skool look and style but always fighting with the carbs living in ohio 1 day is 80 next is negative 30 lol I'm very curious to c if any of u guys have tunnel rams and have tried the Holley sniper kit or fi tech kit and to c if they r worth the money of more of a headache than I have now I really wanna stay period correct as my car is a gasser but willing to cheat a lil if it makes my life easier thanks inadvacne guys have a good day

If you are not racing period correct then I would go with EFI. I'm sure that you would be way better off. I would think the 2 companies you have stated has a 2-4 set up.
Another you can try is Fastman EFI.Rich Nedbal is his name.He set up a car I had that had 8 throttle bodies.

I don't see any reason why an EFI system wouldn't be great on a tunnel ram. Remember the adjustments made by the EFI setup are based on the O2 sensor in the exhaust. Yes, you program what you want to happen but the adjustments come from the readings of the O2 sensor. If you want to make adjustments it is very easy with EFI as well. No taking a carb apart and experimenting with jets. I don't have a tunnel ram but I do have a 6-71 blower. I have a FiTech system and since I built my engine the EFI was the best dollars spent as far as upgrades. I think member "Famous Bob" has a sniper setup and he is happy with it as far as I know. Maybe he will chime in.

I'd love to see more of your Gasser Dart !
I'm thinking of going to the straight front axle on this one.

I wish guys like you would post threads showing details of builds like this. By the way, why are you running such short stacks?

I went port injection EFI on my tunnel ram but I think throttle body injection would still be better than carbs. The fuel still has to travel a long ways so you might have some of the same drivability problems that can come up with tunnel rams and carbs but it should be way less, it will also be way easier to adjust of course.

I had a Holley Pro Dominator T-ram converted to EFI for my W2 small block. It picked up some power and drives better than it did with a 4150 EFI manifold on it.

67Dart273, That was experimental. Also15 years ago. The setup was from a sprint car builder. Not very good for the street.More for Idle and full throttle.I wanted a cross ram EFI but was talked into trying this.

408ci, solid lifter cam. 4-speed, 4:10 gears.
Not a lot of miles yet, but seems to be working as advertised.

There is a guy local to me who is an old school guy with a later 70s step side primer black truck. It has side pipes and a tunnel ram 440. Sweet old school hot rod truck. He switched to FI Tech duals on his tunnel ram and loves it. The told me at first he was scared that he had screwed up as but would start and idle like a champ but pretty poor otherwise. He cried it and allowed it to learn and it is now perfect. I'm sure the sniper would be great too

trouble with efi that far away from the valves it that some fuel is going to fall out of suspension. TBI is superior to carbs any day for the week as it is a consistant atomization no matter what the manifold vacuum/velocity across the discharge venturis is (carb dynamics) but it runs into the same carb issues: cold intake, icing, distribution issues, etc. Its just the nature of a wet intake. If you were to put the injectors at the base of the intake as the IR runner setup, ie as close as possible and not at the top, you could drastically reduce these factors. Sure F1 fogs their intakes (injectors very high in the IR tract) but they always run in the higher powerbands and the velocity is always there. Heck, they idle at at about 2K. A kegger intake off a RAM is very close to a STR in its design, long runners with a straight(er) entry into the ports, except its dry. The STR intakes had major issues with fuel distribution, puddling, etc. so much so as to create a TSB on modding them to make them work better, the published "popsicle stick" mod. You could hide the injectors inboard Enderle 'pill' style but would still need a mechanism that would allow MAP to be read for metering, maybe a small common plenum at base of runners, like a NOS line?
Bottom line is FI is superior for driveablilty over a carb, just which design you want to invest in.

Thank u guys for all ur input and pics everything looks cool and sounds like for the most part it will do the trick

I've made several changes since these pics but I love the straight axle nice kit from speedway kinda building a 60s gasser drag but still streetable thanks again guys I'll sure I'll have more ?'s again as this project and my 67 barracuda project continues

What distributor do you run with it? Are you letting the FiTech control the timing? Super interested in this setup myself...been running the MSD atomic (with timing control of a locked out MSD) for years with great success but want to run tunnel ram on a stroker that's in the works. Thanks.

I had Don @ Four Seconds Flat set me up with an FBO system decade or so ago: 4secondsflat.com. (I sent him my specs, he sent me a distributor, ECU, and plug and timing recommendations) FITech is not controlling the timing.

Bought an MSD for timing control, hopefully get that installed soon.
Went from 390s to 600s to efi. Would never go back.
My advice, don't skimp on tank, pump, lines, and update electrical. Needed to shield coil wire to prevent electronic noise fault.
