ill be starting my 408 build soon and have this Racer Brown cam laying here. I’m not a cam expert so I’ll be giving Jim a call to give him some flow numbers and a few other specs
.30 over 360
4 inch K1 crank K1 rods
Wiseco domed High comp pistons
Edelbrock heads hopefully in the 320-325 max flow area
1.6 rockers
Ported Indy intake
2880 pound car
5800 stall convertor
 
I'd like a lot more if it was on a steel core. The numbers look awesome.

I'd think as long as you keep the spring loads where the cam card calls out you should be fine.

I had a Cam Dynamics cam with a cast iron core. It was ok as long as I shifted at 8000. Over that, or more spring or float the valves and it will start to chip the lobe.

Other than that and if you're ok with that spring load, go for it...unless of course Jim says it's a bad idea.

you have the 1.6 rockers? get with B3
and ask Jim about edm lifters if you need new lifters
or the Rhoads ones
heads all together with springs if so check with Jim to see if they are the right ones
still need to check the heads not just out of the box
light retainers or light anything helps if you are getting the heads bare
what did you figure your compression will be- jim can tell you where to install it
quench and head gaskets?
I am always in favor of running what you have to get a baseline
(except for a much to big comp cams suggestion in another thread - send it back)

It’s a roller cam so I will be tubing the block and probably using a new set of Bam roller lifters I have here. I ran almost the same cam lift wise in my old 408 and 1.6 rockers so I have s B3 kit from that build that I hope will work on this build.

Stock block (360) Edelbrock heads I always use the factory oiling up through the block and tap the stand under the rockershaft for a 5/16 brass set screw and drill a 1/16 hole in it. That usually works well for me.

My buddy and I were trying to figure out how I got this one. He and him are very close and wheel and deal often for transmission work or trading stuff. Then when my buddy gets tight for money I buy stuff from him. Lol
 
Cool! I like the cam. How well it Scientifically works out, well, that’s another thing. I would not be concerned with running the cam. I’m not racing for the money and in a heads up competition.
 
I gotta make some phone calls but I came down with either a head cold from hell or allergies. My head fells like it’s going to explode. Major bummer because we had a get together scheduled for tonight with car guys I hung out with at Eat n Park 45 years ago.
 
My last 408 ran 9.70’s with a 5600 stall and my 422 has gone 9.42 with a 5800 stall. These small block love high stall.

With Indy heads, I'll bet. I found that my 416 (albeit dished piston, 89 octane pump gas street motor) with an Ultradyne 259/263@.050" .590" 110LSA flat tappet solid didn't want or need all that RPM with regular Eddy heads. It really was no faster shifting as high as 7200 and with carbs as big as 950, than it was shifting at 6200 with 750cfm. The limited airflow and long stroke characteristics were holding me back. I was running a 3000 stall 9.5" 904 converter that became a 3500+ stall after switching from 3.58 to 4" stroke. Good luck!

It is 274 274 at .050 590 590 with 1.5s on a 105 lobe sep.
Not sure what I will do with it.

Run it in something. As long as the spring pressure is not way up there it will be ok. And don't float the valves.

I always forget to mention that the burnout kills more parts than most anything else.

I actually, probably will. The problem is I will probably try it in the sweptline....if I use my 4" crank in it.
That cam ran mid sixes 1/8 mile in a stock stroke 340.
71 Demon originally a 318 car.

Edit. forgot to mention the W2 heads.

I have a cast core Isky R-505T solid roller for a BB. I think it would work good in a rowdy 383 or a milder 440/451 and a really streetable 499/512. Talk about reduced base circle!! Nice to run a regular intermediate shaft gear though!!
