Overcoming Design Flaws from Uncle Tony

-
I've been following him on the slant 6 build, amazing how all that water left the sump when accelerating, anxious to see it done and how much HP he gets out of it
I watched his video on the crank, and I like the way he thinks, don't start out saying I'm going to build a 9 second machine, instead go at it saying I'm going to optimize each and every part to its full potential, never really thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense

bookmarked to come back to later and rewatch. Interesting video

Back when I was a young man, there was a local old man(he'd be about 120 by now) who was known as the slant 6 master, he'd do all his own machine work, make his own manifolds, go to the local dragstrip in his 63 valiant and consistently out run V8s, I wish he were around today to pass on some of his knowledge( I'm sure he was modifying V8 windage trays for slantys)
So many things are about to become lost to history, in both automotive, and the trades, I find it admirable that someone is trying to pass on those simple tricks to the younger generation that only knows EFI and computer chips and couldn't properly tune a carb or set the dwell on a set of points to save their lives

That's why I love watching him, so much to give this generation on computer freaks. I thought I knew alot about what he does......BOY was I misguided! He blows me away with his knowledge.

I heard that he is on here as White Punk on Nitro, any proof to that rumor?

True, and his wife (Kathy) is agent99 on here.
He started out here parting out cars, and I have bought multiple parts from him.
I wish he would get a blue tooth microphone for his video's because sometimes the audio is so bad/drowned out that I give up watching them.

A lot of us who have been doing this for decades and have built all these engines sometimes 100 over... dont have someone to hold the camera while we tutorial or give a history lesson. These "tricks" have become passay...but as time goes on..its reborn and new again to all the people who are just starting. Guru, master, old school hot rod hero.... thats a lot us on here. We just dont have a youtube and camera man or woman. Its kind of a pain in the ***... to make myself stop and take a picture , video while porting, building...
The more amazing thing is that people don't realize the oil sloshes all to the back. I just got done saying this in another thread and all the sudden...It's brand new in this thread.
How the simplest things aren't considered.
My 1st engine i ever built was 225..and i made and welded baffles and even a crank scraper. Still have the scraper.

I keep telling myself im gonna start a channel.

All good stuff! When I got my 340 it had already been ground smooth inside and painted white. It does of course have the factory windage tray. One of the first things I did was to weld a lip across the back of the pan sump. Every little thing like this is insurance against any future problems, ...and in my case keeps me from worrying about disasters that weren’t going to happen anyway! :D

Kind of the same here.
I do all my own motor, trans, body/paint electrical and other details work, and I have often thought of the Channel thing.
Like you though, it's a pin in the *** to stop and video or take pictures.
I think one would have to resolve to it being one or the other.
(Get **** done, or drag it out make a channel):D
Myself, I'm more of a git **** done kinda guy.

Like right now.
I'm going to rebuild my master cylinder today since the weather is finally decent enough again, but it's going to get done and I'm not taking any pictures.:D
