I wish he'd revved it a little. It sounds strong.

Thats cool, "above 3000 RPM it goes wild!" Yup...Hyper-Pak. I've seen that car in mags. C'mon Leno, Just buy it!

I really like Leno's Garage but a guy worth $400 million could buy a different shirt. I swear he ware's the shame shirt in every video. LMAO

Maybe it's like Uncle Tony's cigarette was. A trade mark of some sort. lol

That was my brother's signature look. Denim shirt and blue jeans.Every day winter/summer. When he died that's the clothes my sister-in-law buried him in.

Jay was stuck in his Mom's Valiant! All he could do was 94 mph. The engine in this car, rebuilt with some assistance from Doug Dutra was originally one of the 10 or 12 engines built by Chrysler for the Daytona Hyper Pak cars. 7 went into the Valiants that raced in 1960 and one went into this car. The other engines I don't know about. One might have gone into one of the Ramcharger members car because they talk about a hot slant in one of their Valiants being driven in MI. This car was built in Turin by Ghia. It is a 1960 Valiant chassis and is a steel body.

Yeah they were talkin about it bein a modified 60 Valiant chassis. I think it's pretty cool. Too bad some of the design didn't make it into production cars. Thanks for the extra info.

The "Sister" car to this one is the Asimmetrica. Also based on a 1960 Valiant, the 124,086th 1960 car built at Hamtramck. It too had a 170 with Hyper Pak components. The 170's were used because of the low hood line that Exner wanted. A 225 was too tall. So it could have gotten another Daytona engine. As far as the 9000 RPM, that is incorrect of course. The XNR has an 8000 RPM tach and the 170 engines were run to 7500 RPM on the dyno. Most people who don't know slants are not aware that they will run high RPM.

What I found extremely interesting was the Shah of Iran had owned it. There has always been a bunch of "car buffs" in the country of Iran. If I'm not mistaken, there were some Iranian members here on FABO. (At one time, or maybe Iraq? ) I have a friend who's dad was a "roust-about" in Iran during the Shah's reign. He told me the locals, that could afford cars, were into American Iron.

And remember the Father of the Hemi Tom Hoover designed the Hyper Pack before the famous 426 Hemi.
