What radiator for 64 360 barracuda?

What radiators fit well in the 64 barracuda with a 360?
in my oem 64 dart 273-2bbl, 4spd, I just used the oem 273 rad when I swapped in a mildly hopped 70 340. It wasn't a problem with 3.91 gears but became a bit of an issue when I went to 4.10 or 4.30's ( I can't remember which, now)

Check out a 65 Mustang AL retrofit model. They fit with 2 more bolt holes drilled. I think the lower rad hose is on the wrong side but you can use a later water pump.

What was the radiator made for/part number?
I am looking at a radiator made for a later duster.
This one.

Bear in mind that the 64’s radiator opening is only 19 inches wide; 65 and later are 22inches wide and later years are 26 inches wide as well which will play a role in whatever radiator you chose

The 64's radiator opening is identical to a 65, its the 64's radiator flange that is 3" wider on slant fan side. They just cheated and put in a smaller core. Hard to find a pic of a survivor as they are all the 65 size now.

No it's not if it is a 6 cylinder car.The 64 has a smaller hole where the radiator fits for 6 cyl cars and the radiator doesn't have that wide side piece like the 6 cyl 65 and 66 have

Mine measured out to be 19.75,if I remember correctly, and the mounting surface is about 23.
I have no issue with tweeking the opening.

Just put a 340 in my ‘65 Barracuda and had overheating problems with stock 2 core radiator, (which worked fine with the 273 commando). I installed a 22” 3 core aluminum radiator and have no more problems.

For what it's worth, I had a three row core put in my 65 Barracuda's original 273 radiator and my 340 never runs over 180. I also have a three row core in the original 19" radiator in my 64 Polara and it keeps my 434 (stroker 383) at 180 also. I don't have a problem with anyone switching to aluminum since it's getting harder and harder to find anyone who can do radiator work, and way more expensive than it used to be when you do. However, it's not necessary to switch to aluminum to keep your motor cool.

I put a 3-row Champion in my '65. It cooled better the the OE but it certainly was not night and day.

Hmm, I must have dealt with a 64 6 then as the rad in that was still the 19 with the extended flange even though the PO had put a 340/4sp in it! I had the core forever in my back yard until the elements got to it and wife gave it to the roving scrap metal man. I learned something today.

My 64 Barracuda radiator opening is only 19" and has a 273 motor. I know the 65 has a larger opening.

You know , the 64 1/2 Barracuda was just a quick response to the Mustang. It was just a Valiant that they did some fast design changes on.They quickly popped out a small block for it and I don't think the 64 1/2 Barracuda production numbers were all that large and would guess that there were more 6 cylinder ones than V8's There weren't any high performance packages offered in 64,they just wanted to get it out .The Barracuda really came into it's own in 65 when they started offering HP packages with the Commando 273 ,anti sway bar, larger brakes and a bigger radiator hence the larger front hole. In 66 they started moving away from the Valiant image for the Barracuda's and by 67 it was it's own image not that of an upgraded Valiant.I remember when it was 1st introduced as the first "pony" car and it did beat the Mustang to the market by a week or two but the Mustang was much more developed as a platform than the Barracuda with HP packages and different body styles.

I picked up a Champion 3 core for a 70 duster.
Will make minor adjustment for the opening, maybe.
I will need to make mounting plates.

I also used a 19" Champion & a chrome $20 Chinese one-size-fits-all shroud on my '66 Barracuda with a 360. I could have gone a little wider, but I was afraid I might run into problems with the fit. The lower hose was a bit tough because of the angle of the curve coming out of the tank, but in 5+ years I've had no overheating (or leaking) problems whatsoever & I've driven a LOT of miles & been in some tough traffic jams on really hot days!

I have been out of town. My memory was that the radiator opening in my 65 Barracuda was 19 inches, but I got back home today and measured it. It's 22 inches.
Just FYI, the opening in my 63 Valiant is 19 inches.
