My 1969 Dart GTS 340 thread!

well the gt is a lesser perforance version of the gtsport . i've had both one gt and two gtsports , and all in green , lol . even have those scoops . never mounted them .

I took my car to the Linvilla Annual Spring Meet today. Over 500 cars were there to show. In my class there were 28 cars entered for judging ('67-'69 Production cars, all makes and models). Since the Judging was being done by members of the Historical Car Club of PA and the rest of the field was comprised of some really nice cars, I figured I had no chance to get into the top 4 and get a trophy so I just kicked back and enjoyed the day with my daughter.

When the trophies were awarded, I was stunned to hear them call my name for 4th place...

It’s been a while since I updated this thread. I got distracted when I bought the ‘66 Dart GT from Mopar Tim and the ‘69 languished in my garage for too long of a long time.

But after selling the ‘66 back to Mopar Tim, I got back on the ‘69.

First, I had to wash off 2 years of dust...

Then I got her running like a champ again...

After that, I pulled out the under dash radio/CD player and added a vintage style console clock...

The last touch of the season was to replace the worn and discolored drivers door arm rest with a correct color NOS one...

Then one last fall cruise to meet up with some Mopar friends, and then wrapped up for Winter...just waiting for Spring!

I forgot to add that the reason I pulled out the underdash radio is because I got the original AM radio working again. Still with the factory dash speaker...

(Don’t mind the stations, they were what I could receive best in my garage)

I... Love... This... Car...

Perfect colors. Crazy you let it sit for 2 years, I'm on month 2 of no driving mine and I'm going crazy!

I have a working original am radio as well, but there aren't any good am stations so we take a blue tooth speaker and listen to some jojo siwa while we cruise.

The reason it sat for 2 years was much more that having the ‘66 arrive. We were supporting my wife’s brother (emotionally and financially) through his stage 4 liver cancer, liver transplant and eventual death while at the same time my father was slowly dying of advanced Alzheimer’s.

They both passed within a year of each other so for that period my priority was dramatically shifted away from anything to do with the old cars during that time. The end came for my Father last Winter and then it was 9 months of trying to settle his estate amongst the madness of my wicked money grubbing sisters. I also lost my Job in September.

By late last October, everything had been resolved (including a new job) and that’s when I was finally able to get back to the ‘69.

Sometimes life just gets in the way and priorities have to change...for a while at least.

Thanks!

You were pretty chubby with that 4th place win! Congrats on the win and the weight loss man! I wish I had half your willpower.

Thanks! Hopefully when I go back for the show this year I can do better than last time...even being nearly half the man I was then! LOL!

Sorry for all that happened and your losses. Strong man you are for staying strong through all of that.

I agree life gets in the way, i was simply trying to say that car is amazing and I'd be driving it way to much if I had the chance.

Excited to see more of this beauty.

Thanks! I appreciate your comments. I am look forward to a nice long Season of getting back to enjoying her again. My 15 year old daughter is already bugging me to go cruising once the weather gets warm again...she loves this car and has been helping me work on it for the past 5 years.

She has made me swear to never sell it and eventually give it to her so she can share with her own children one day.

Daddy’s girl!

That's amazing! My daughter is 5 and does the same thing. She says it's her purple car and when she gets older she will drive it really really fast. She is upset it's still not put back together.

Yessir! You really helped me out by giving me a nice one to add to the jack to make it complete!

Ddaddy, I'm really loving your GTS. Always had (and will have) a soft spot for the GTSs.
Short story, GTS related; circa 1976, friend of mine bought a faded reddish (turned out to be Hemi Orange) GTS, black gut, 4 spd GTS not sure what year the car was. We didn't know what it was (or what we ended up thinking it might have been) at the time, we knew the engine was a transplanted 318, we figured out that it had a 430:1 Dana rear, curiously... One day I happened to notice an original tag on the inner fender that read (best of my recollection); this automobile is not intended for street use, drag racing only. Something like that.
He had it for a while and ended up trading it for some Chrysler Land Barge with a 440. Anyhow, we guessed it might have been an original Hemi drag car - oh for the ones that got away...
