I do not use paypal

-
I have no idea how long I have had a paypal account but its been many years. I haven't ever had an issue and in more than one instance had paypal help me out with a bad purchase. I once ordered a lokar shifter from a vendor; the vendor swore that the shifter had not only been shipped but was delivered. I looked everywhere, no shifter; checked with UPS (the shipper) and it showed it had been delivered. Since I live in a semi rural area I have essentially the same delivery guys and just so happened he stopped by, I showed him the UPS tracking, he looked it up and said he never delivered it and that in his system it showed it being delivered somewhere else. Despite this information, the vendor refused to refund my money or send me a new one. Since I paid with paypal I contacted them, they refunded my money quickly and I bought a new shifter from someone else.

I seldom purchase from anyone who won't take paypal unless there is no where else to get it.

I use it but don't like it. I don't like their stupid website layout at all, and I don't like the idea that the liberal damn retards from egag monitor and dictate how Paypal is to be "done." But I still use it. There are horror stories on the net. All you have to do is look Most of my transfers are not too much money.

Its almost a necessary evil. I got burned once but I'm a lot wiser now about it. Use 2 part authentication when logging in! Someone got into my account (through lined paypal) and drained me of almost $500. Would not have happened if I had used 2 part authentication (sends code to cell when logging in). I had it linked to ebay as 'always logged in" so it was very easy to jack my ebay account and just hit the 'pay with paypal' button. Paypal never refunded my money as it was "not an unauthorized transaction" because it was legitimately used from within paypal even though paypal told them the whole transaction was unauthorized. They dont care. Just be vigilant on passwords and by all means use 2 part authentication. Dont have a cell phone? Dont use it. Walmart does like $2 money transfers and they are friggin everywhere. Go to yours, tell them what walmart the money is going to and who's gonna pick it up and its there electronically. Used it once, worked.

I have never had any issues with paypal. As a seller I don't want the bother of waiting for a money order to arrive by snail mail. Then have to run out and cash it. I'd rather have instant payment and I'll have your part out that day or the following morning.

As a buyer the same thing. Don't feel like going and getting a money order then waiting for the seller to get it via snail mail them waiting for the seller to ship it. Instant payment and get my parts out within a day or two.

I've passed on numerous things over the years because the Seller wouldn't take PayPal. Those parts were for sale months still after I passed on them.

Up here, fees associated with money orders. Both buying and cashing.
A scammer will find a way no matter what. I have also received counterfeit money orders that look 100% real.
PayPal is very convenient and most of us have been trained to want convenience. Me included.

OP is clearly not a gun person.

Not sure about that one.... My parents grew up in the depression era so they came from dick broke farms and they are set in their ways about how their money is used in transactions. As 4spdragtop said if someone wants to scam you they will. Someone is always smarter out there.....

I did upgrade my sign in to a 2 step verification and used it already. Nice layer of protection. Thanks Phista....

I always tell people that sell online the best way you can set up to sell and receive payments is to make it where the buyer can click "Buy" with no second thoughts.
You would be surprised how many sales are lost when a person has time to think it over longer.

Driving down to get a money order and filling the information out gives a buyer a LONG time to reconsider.

I love paypal, never had any issues. I have tried money order once, and never again. It was horrible to deal. Local bank had never heard of it, they asked from national help, they had not heard anything of MO in 20 years. So paypal for me.

I am curious too, why not?

Had Paypal up until 2012 or so.
Until my son got scammed out of $1800 for a Ford Supercharger set up he paid for ...but never recieved.
Paypal at the time did little to no investigation as far as im concerned, said seller never recieved payment?
Where did it go? My son worked all summer for that money.
Im sure Paypal has come along way since then, dealing with 3rd party hackers, etc.

I know it was a rare situation, but just my bad luck, I guess.
Personal check,Money order, or chase quickpay for me.

I had one PayPal incident, interesting enough with a person here at FABO.
I sold and shipped exactly what was discussed and what was listed in the FABO
for sale ad. The Buyer after receiving the part, opened a claim with PayPal saying that
an extra part, something that I had listed in a completely separate FABO ad should have been included
with the part he purchased. PayPal immediately put a hold on the money that he had paid into my PayPal account
and the on line PayPal dispute web site said the claim had been settled in the Buyers favor.
I then submitted scanned copies of the two separate for sale ads as well as copies of the FABO messages where
the Buyer and I had discussed both parts and selling price of each part, but the money I had received was the price for one part so I was
only sending the one part that was paid for...I had clearly laid that out in a personal message to the seller prior to shipment. I had received an affirmative response from the Buyer and had saved that PM with the others.
In about two days PayPal reversed the decision, released the funds and that was the last I ever heard about it.
So it is helpful to have copies of the ad, photos of the parts, copies of any correspondence. There are folks out there that will just try to pull something.
But seriously out of the possibly hundreds of transactions that was the only one where there was an issue.
