hey guys I wanted to put some chubbys in the rear of my barracuda, 15x8 with 4.5 back spacing I have researched works with a 275 60 15 tire. Have any of you guys done this?

More than enough room in the quarters for them. What rear axle do you have? Not all A-body axles are the same width, so it matters if it's a 7.25, 8.25, 8 3/4 and whether or not you're still SBP or if you've converted to BBP. Those things will change the backspace needed.

Hey, yes it's a abody 8 3/4 small bolt pattern axles.

15x8 with a 4.5" backspace with 275's is basically the recipe for an A-body 8 3/4 that's been converted to BBP axles.

With a SBP 8 3/4 it's a little too much backspace, you would be better off with 4.25" or even 4" on a 15x8" with 275's. Basically 4.5" is too much, 4.25" would be great, 4" is borderline not enough. If you get the 15x8 with 4.5" of backspace and run 275's with SBP axles you'll almost certainly need a spacer.

Hm, now I gotta ask my buddy if he has the big bolt pattern axles, he might or might not. He is the one who told me. to use 4.5 back space, I would want the rim tucked in nice

Following.
I have the same car with 255s and they fit great. I have a b-body 8 3/4 that’s a little wider so the 4.5 backspace works.

Cool thank you guys! Looks like I'll be using 4.25 back space with the small bolt pattern 8 34

That's a BBP rear end, and it's wider so be careful as the measurements aren't really relevant for the OP. The other thing is that regardless of which B body width rear axle that is, you probably can't fit 275's with that backspace. My Duster has a 68-70 B-body 8 3/4, and even before the 1/2" spring offset the backspace to center the 10" wheels was almost 6.5". As it sits now I run 295/35/18's on 18x10's with a 7" backspace. But that's with the B rear, a 1/2" spring offset, and disk brakes (which also widen the track). There's a lot of variables to consider.

1969 Barracuda
Drum brakes all around, factory 8 3/4 rear (not sure what year the rear is though)
Fronts 15x6 4" backspacing with 205/70R15
Rear 15x8 4 1/2" backspacing with 275/60R15

Fronts were a little close during turning (approx 1/4" between tire and bottom of fender so I rolled the bottom 2" of the inside lip to get 1/2" clearance). If I had to do over again I'd went with a 215/65R15 tire.

Rears had to had a 1/4" spacer to get 1/2" space between tire and leaf spring.

Cool! did you have the big bolt pattern axles?

See my thread titled "Barracuda tire size"

I doubt the 235/60s will unless you "massage" the front lower lip of the fender. I'm assuming your talking about a 15" wheel?
I was thinking on a 14 inch rim, but i might just run my 215 70 14 on a 6 inch rim or now, my brother has 225 60 15x6 in his front.
