Water Pump Heater Hose Fitting?

Is there any type of tool to remove one of these? Thanks

Yes but cheaper sockets usually break. What I found to work years back the best is drill a hole through a cheap deep well socket that fits over the nipple. Install a piece of Hardened Key stock through the hole and tack it in with a light weld. Years ago I cut a slot in a socket with a cut off wheel and set the key stock in the slot. There are several ways.

My son now has the tools I don't know who he bought them from. I borrow them when he is not looking. It looks exactly like what I told you to make. They are probably Snap-on, Mac, Or KD. They are in a red case. Never looked at the name. Try MSC on line

If you have the room - slide an old bolt or round stock down inside that is close to the i.d., and use a small pipe wrench. I have a 12", but the mini 8" Ridge work well also. The bolt keeps it from egging and getting stuck from deforming.

Thanks for the tip, I have a Vintage Air System, I tried my smallest pipe wrench, won't get in there without taking the whole compressor mount out.

@Rainy Day Auto made a socket to remove those.
In my experience a lot of the time those slots get ripped out trying to get them out that way anyway.
Heat seems to help.

Yes, I was worried about the slots also, I ordered a set I will re post on how things went. I was also thinking of an easy out. Thanks for your response...
 
Vice grips, then trash them.
New ones are like $10. give or take.
To install, get a thick washer. Clamp it into a set of vice grips.
Insert washer into the groove, and turn.

PS: If the nipple is locked in and won't budge. Put a torch on the nipple and intake. Get it really hot, and melt wax into the threads. Screws right out.
 
The screwdriver type tools are for installation and rarely work for removal. Heat the intake with a torch helps . Some replacements have a hex built in for a wrench.

Sounds good I will give it a try, I have plenty of large washers, been soaking the threads in penetrating oil.. Thanks
 
The drag link sockets work if the nipples are new. A tight fitting sleeve such as a deep well socket holds the slots from ripping loose. I never had much luck with the drag link sockets removing old nipples. They work well installing new nipples though. You are correct in using heat. We call our torch set "liquid wrench"
 
I thought I remember someone on here machining some neat sockets with the screwdriver end that fit down in the fitting a little bit. I think he had three different sizes in the sets he sold. Anyone else remember them?

It would be hard to find now a days , but there were plumbing tools made for that exact purpose. I have one for a 1/2'' pipe size somewhere --------------
 
I am going to work on it today, the biggest problem as I see it is the slots are on top and where it needs to move is at the bottom. If it would have a hex head on the side it would have been out by now... Thanks

Well it is out, I took all the A/C mounts off to do it with heat and a small pipe wrench.
The npt is 5/8 the same as the hose fitting. Anyone ever seen this? It is out of the water pump. Thanks

I am going to convert this to 1" water pump bypass fittings in the intake and water pump anyone have a source for these 360 LA motor? Thanks
