Some time ago I bought a 74 Scamp, slant, VINYL roof, and the roof is badly rusted and leaking/ bubbled under the vinyl. I just located a very much junked 69 Dart HT and am planning on dragging it home for the roof, and 'whatever else.'

I don't know yet how much of the roof is "that bad." The entire thing shows bubbling under the vinyl, and I'm thinking the rear/ C pillar/ rear trunk deck is a "for sure" replacement. Any photos/ links/ tips you can give me, helpful. I'm off to read the later "body" manuals hoping to learn a bit there. I won't myself be doing this, hoping to "scam" the neighbor into it LOLOL

...........and this junker I have not looked at it yet, so 'we'll see'

I'd peel that vinyl off first and see how bad it really is.
Pretty sure it's worse than I'd like to think. I don't think the rear window flanges are very good either. But that is for sure "in the books"

I have no tips or help. Sorry. But I'm glad to see you're back on the Scamp!

Here's a couple of pictures from the '74 I pulled a roof skin off of for my bronze GT, same deal, vinyl roof disease on an otherwise solid car. There's about 200 spot welds, it's about 50 per side. I can get more pictures of the roof skin for you, the car is long gone.

I likely will need photos of the lower window / rear deck area as well if you have them. If I live long enough, and the weather gets better, first thing to do is strip off the vinyl and see how bad this really is!!!

I have a question, are you ever going to get the freshly painted 67 Dart put together ? :poke:
That Dart would sure look good cruising 95 to Hayden.

I'm sure gonna try again this summer. Last two years were a disaster. Goal for summer before last was to at least get the engine/ trans in so it would move, so I can get it out of the 'port and onto the hoist etc and to work on other parts of it. That year we had heat and terribly smoky fires. First year (at 71) that my eyes hurt just being outdoors. So I wasn't. Outdoors much. And then "the person formerly known as my sister" thought she had the estate sold, and I wasted a LOT of time getting things moved out of there, and then there were some hot days--too hot to be outside for me.

Last year was just a mess. The estate finally sold, and there was more messin' with that, I got little done. Plus I don't "move" as fast as I us'ta. My back has been bothering me more

AND AT THE MOMENT I don't even have a doctor. I fired the last one(s)

But even if I get it running and moving, it won't be "done."

Well I hope the best for you with your projects this summer.
I pray fire season is mild like it was this past summer.
The summers of 14,17 and 18 were pretty smoky in late July and August
The Carlton complex fire produced a lot of smoke.
Good luck and safe boating and building, Sir.
