The mild winter, we are going to have a blizzard. Winds, snow, cold. Projected low for Sat. night is 13F

Plus my back is still bothering, and today, left work early because of it (and another couple reasons)

So I get home and.......

The furnace stat is tied through a relay to the living room heater, a free standing glass front heater, so that they normally come on together. The living room heater also has a stat, so if the furnace quits, it will still operate

I finally realized only the room heater was running, not the furnace. Went down there and powered it down and the DRAFT BLOWER is spinnng...................and spinning.............and spinning. Know why? Well I don't have it apart yet, but the bet is the squirrel cage for the draft blower broke That thing is no fun to get at on a good day, the gas pipe crosses over to the other side so it will all have to come apart, and my back is still bothering.

Plus even when I get it apart, I'll have to order the parts, I doubt very much I have what I need.

(By the way in a previous life I was an HVAC/R service guy, so I "used" to know what I am doing.........

This will not be a nice Sat--Sun

Oh Lord. It's this kinda thing that makes me wish we were local. I would come help. It could be the old leadin the blind. lol

Biggest problem with the furnace is "getting to it." It is a "compact" model (90's?) so fairly low to the ground. So my back will have to be "careful." I can fix it, just going to be a PITA

Sorry to hear about your furnace especially with back problems. We're running the A/C 24/7 here.

-20 celcius this morning. Burned all the pellets so furnace runs pretty steady. I should bring a few more bags in from the shop, but i dont want to.

MIL's sister lives in Med Hat. Apparently pretty cold out there, while we are having a good melt here the past few days.

Love my SC, but havent had it in a while due to "sugar by jesus"(diabetes).
Gotta make due with low carb beer.
SC is low carb as long as you don't mix it with anything but water. I quit Black Velvet and Sprite some time ago. I spend a little more and sip on something a little smoother.

Actually from all the reading that I have done......clear pure whiskeys or gin or vodka contain alcohol sugars only. Alcohols sugars are not easily processed by the body. I've been on a low carb diet for years and drink 2/3 drinks a day of alcohol mixed with pomagranate juice or cranberry juice. Just make sure the juice is pure juice with no sugar added...you have to look close because labels lie sometimes. Read all about alcohol sugars on the internet!!! NO Apple Crown or other whiskeys with added sugar/flavors....usually if it's clear it OK???

Well, here in Lethbridge (about 100 miles west of Medicine Hat) it's -19 celcius here right now with a abut a 40 KM/H north wind and so the wind chill factor would make it about -30 or so.
It's going to be tough on the people shopping in town for toilet paper this morning...........

Exactly. Distilled spirits clear or aged on oak are ok. Flavored spirits aren't good.

To be honest I havent looked into the "clear vs colored" alcohols.
I try to stay clear as best I can and stick to the beer now. The odd shot of SC straight a couple times a year.
Cant find ANY sugar free juice of any kind here lol.

Stay away from Peppermint Schnapps and Fireball. LOL Just simple syrup, ethanol, and flavoring.

Lay everything out so you only have to get up once if possible. I feel for you.

It's about the FOD map in drinks/foods. Pick a juice that is very slowly absorbed by the body so you don't get any sugar "spikes" in the blood!!! Lime juice is a low in FODMAPS, cranberry juice is "moderate" on the FODMAP. I squeeze 1/2 a lime and 2/3/4 tablespoons of cranberry or pomagranate juice for flavor in my liquor. Trick is to only use a small amount of juice and make sure it's juice with NO ADDED SUGARS!!! I'm sure you could experiment to see what spikes your blood sugar and what doesn't?? Then there's "Swerve"!!!

ALSO: I always eat 3 strips of bacon sprinkled with Tumeric powder and cracked pepper. The fat slows digestion (decreasing the sugar spike) and Tumeric lowers/stabilizes blood sugar. So I eat my bacon then have a drink or two mixed with Pomagranate/Cranberry juice and lime.

Sugar Blocker 1: Have a fatty snack 10 to 30 minutes before your meals

Reason: You remain fuller longer.

At the outlet of your stomach is a muscular ring, the pyloric valve. It regulates the speed at which food leaves your stomach and enters your small intestine. This valve is all that stands between the ziti in your stomach and a surge of glucose in your bloodstream. But you can send your pyloric valve a message to slow down.

Fat triggers a reflex that constricts the valve and slows digestion. As little as a teaspoon of fat, easily provided by a handful of nuts or a piece of cheese, will do the trick, provided you eat it before your meal.

But but but.......it's so BRITISH!!!!

Meanwhile, just eating breakfast, it's 16F. Just enough snow last night to make a mess. Supposed to have winds. Weathered the night pretty fair with only the living room heater and the wall mounted "pony" heaters. I'll "hit" the furnace problem a bit later

Cold there eh??
My wife sometimes calls me an asshole.
It will be a high today of 80.
^^^The above statement is why my wife sometimes calls me an asshole!!!!! Sorry.
