I purchased a headliner from Rock Auto the plastic foam backed one in black made by Acme.
I had it installed 6 months ago, I noticed yesterday the headliner is drooping, I had it installed by a professional, has this happened to anyone else and what might be causing it.
I paid $250 to have it installed, even if they warranty it I’m screwed, I have a broken neck or I would install it myself.

I am sorry about your injury. We all do try to find deals.....but interior parts from Rock Auto? Buying on price alone usually isn't a good idea. I hope you can get a decent resolution.

I had my headliner installed and he and a helper came to my shop (extra cost) 3times. Clamp and glue... stretch, clamp and glue and stretch Install the factory covers. Then he had me drive the car over 2 months later to bring it to him to verify all is good.

In other words- inexpensive headliner may not be the issue. I spent $450 for labor and almost 1 year later right as can be.

Is your original headliner cloth or cardboard ? what year car did you install it in? By the sound of it they must have glued the foam back material to your existing cardboard. And know it falling down due to improper prep for installation or the wrong glue. I use the foam back on several Omni's and truck's also a 74 Dart. you must clean the surface with thinner thoroughly . And use the correct contact cement , Not trim adhesive, I would say to you if its a glue on, The installer should stand behind what the screwed up.

The headliner is the white plastic kind with the foam and material already glued to it, you just install it, it’s a defect from the manufacture the glue they used is not good, as soon as it got warm the glue let go

I just installed the ABS plastic headliner from Rock Auto and I considered covering it in vinyl. I even purchased the correct vinyl, however the plain textured black looks great to me. I promise this headliner comes from legendary. I saw a YouTube video and the guy purchased his from legendary and the box and packaging was identical. This was half the price of what legendary was and I am completely happy with it. Is it OEM? No but looks and fits better than I expected.

I have the Acme plastic, foam then vinyl padded headliner. I installed it myself and it's been there for 5 years now. Looks as it did when installed. It is even stored unheated during Canadian winters. I'd say your is a defective unit.

Could this possibly be a breakdown of the foam?
I've had a car headliner breakdown and start sagging before because the foam deteriorated with age.
Yours may be a recent purchase and installation, but how long was it in Rock Autos inventory? And stored in their inventory under what conditions?

Where did you find that on the RA site? I looked under interior and body for a '69 Dart and couldn't find a listing.

I took what was left of my cardboard headliner and built My own... It was far under $100 in material and looks perfect still a few years later...
Of course this is an old thread and over a year ago and I'm sure this problem has been worked out, but I'm sure it was bad materials and bad workmanship...

tell us more about the home made one !

It came up on google. It probably wouldn’t for a 69 Dart because I believe they had soft bow style headliners instead of cardboard.

Crap, that's right. Just chalk this up to losing one of the last two functioning brain cells.
