I got everything pulled apart, except I havent taken the heads off yet, those lower bolts under the headers are a B****.

Pulled the camshaft out as far as I can, I need to take off the A/C condensor still, and here is my current cam- it's a Norris "D" 270H. It must be Super old because the only things i can find on norris camshafts are VW cams and they went out of business in 2008.

Heres the only picture i can get with it still in the block, I'll take more when i get the A/C condensor out and the heads off. I'm really interested to see what pistons I have as well.

Go here Hot Rods - Norris cam history?
and contact big Steve. He did have a phone number in about ‘08-‘10 ish area when Norris passes away. He has decoded a cam or two on “The H.A.M.B.” for a few people.

Same time frame. Old posts.

The only thing I have noted is the advertised duration range spec is around 230@050 which equals roughly (according to Norris) in the 2O00-6000 or 300-6500 RPM range depending on the exact grind.

THe Street series being smaller than the HP or race series. This should loosely apply to your cam. As we like to say here when a mystery cam comes up, tale out the degree equipment, it’s time to take a hard look at what the wheel says. Set up the dial indicator on the lobe or lifter and start turning the crank around.

Seems like a couple of years ago I called Norris about rockers and they said they may make some. I never checked back.

Hopefully they aren't shut down. They make the best rockers.

If the cam is still in the engine, we can check the lift and duration on it if the timing chain is still hooked up...if not ..oh well

I think it's a 2k-6k is pretty close to where my car would wake up.

I was only able to find pages that showed Chevy and ford grinds which showed complete specs for a couple of norris cams.

Look up this thread from a few years ago. There were two Norris camshafts tested and one was a 270.

I think these are the specs for the Norris cam you have. The cam I have has the same markings on the front of it, I hope this helps.

Norris 270s specs are;
RPM Range:1800-5800 Valve Lash:0.022 EX-IN Valve Timing:0.006 , Duration:270, Lobe Separation: 110, Duration @ .050" Lift:224-224, Intake Centerline:106, Valve Lift:0.468-0.468, Lobe Lift:0.313 , Valve Timing @ 0.006 Lift: Exhaust Closes 21 ATDC Opens 69 BBDC 106% Intake 29 Opens BTDC
61 Closes ABDC

Sorry I missed that, you are right mine was a solid lift Norris 270. I was just trying to be helpful.

I read through that thread, the Norris was #5 and it seemed to perform pretty well!

Just keep in mind, bigger is not always better when it comes to carbs & cams.

They bleed down at idle. It takes the roughness out of the cam at idle and low rpm.

Yup, there stock.
Read here about the variable duration lifters. Some people do not like there tick. It doesn’t bother me personally.

As long as it goes fast and sounds mean I'm a happy camper. @70aarcuda was showing me videos of his race cars, when I told my wife about this and that our daughter would love to race cars my wife replied "dont get any ideas."

.... To Late!
