Got the 360 block last week .....washed it a couple time plus ran brushes thru the oil galleries...dried it and bagged it... for now.

Remove .040 pistons that were on the scat rods from the 410 engine....spiro locks suck...had one that took my quite awhile to get off....put the new .030 pistons on the Scat I beam rods...the difference in weight between the piston/pins is the .030 is 3 grams lighter...close enough...

K1 Crank is in the block now...pistons on rods....going to start cutting rings on Monday ....then going to take a break as I need to fix a couple small thing on 71 Duster for this up coming weekend...new slicks to mounts...

We should have the short block assemble in little over a week...

TF heads will need to have the spring shimmed down to 1.80 to get seat pressure up for cam...using the Hughes 264/ 268 cam with Howard EDM lifters from the old engine..Also will have a Eddy Victor 340 that was worked on by IMM....

I also have a Eddy Super Victor that has had some work done to it....so lets see...

Talked to daughter ....about getting the engine in the car....MATS is coming up March 20,,,,we decided to run the current 360 in the car then change engine....Appears it will not run until end of May....went it is nice and hot...

So stay tune and lets see where this take us.....lol

give me time to think about the transmission....4.30 gears in Dana.....360 currently has 2.74/1.54 gear set in it to make up for the 4.30s.....

so...2.45 or 2.74......??? sometimes i think i get too conservative with the gearing....but

Nothing is getting done on this engine this week....Had other things to get done ...and we race saturday and sunday....so next week i will start on as long as we survive the weekend.

With the track shut down still who knows went...Now have time to get back on this project....cut rings for 4 pistons and knocked the pistons in today.....should have the rest done tomorrow......and maybe get the camshaft back in it......should go pretty quick....

only need to shim springs on heads....

Got the rest of the pistons in....one of them twice...lol....rod on backwards....boy...it sure get hard to turn over with that chamfer facing the wrong way...

put the camshaft in the block....get it degreed back in tomorrow and the front end button up...plus probably the oil pan too with any luck....

just added a couple of photos....

Got the camshaft back in today......Since it is the same one from old engine with same timing chain set....I installed as it was and it was where it was last time....104 .....Hughes 264/268......also got the timing chain cover on....next clean the pan and install pan and oil pump but that will need to wait a few days as I am going to help someone else for a few days....

i would have had it done this weekend...but i am helping dentaldart on his 340 dart.....

Good for u Tony, friends need help too. Kim

Good man lending a hand.

He has been an amazing guy to learn from, and I am truly blessed to get his guidance.

I've never ventured over here into the racers forum before and all I can say is wow. Not only Tony and his builds/knowledge but everyone in this section, it's apparantly where the big boys hang out.

Got oil pan and pump installed....harmonic balancer done...couple of oil gallery plugs installed...almost forgot about two of them....

Took one TF head ....springs were at 1.89....shimmed to 1.80....good to go.....

put studs on....set head on...and oh crap.....forgot i got a special set of stud for the TF....

one side done....side two tomorrow....

Going to have to make a choice on intake manifold ....Super Victor or Victor 340....both have had some work done on them......

going to set each one on the engine and take a photo...like modelling shots...lol

Had an issue this morning while shimming the valve springs...on the last exhaust valve as the spring was slowly released back up...a valve lock snapped....never in my life have seen this before....these are 7 degree locks....I used a set of comp cams 7 degree lock to replace both of them on that retainer...

Not sure if it is something i did or what?.......

Otherwise the heads are on....torqued down to 110 ft/lbs.....these are the prettiest heads I have every seen.....

On to the valve gear....I actually read the instructions that came with the heads last night....says you will need .100 to .300 longer pushrods depending on your application.....I installed the Crane rocker set up with the old pushrods...which are 7.58 inches long...too short....I have quite a few sets of pushrods in a box....rambling thru them I found some old W2 pushrods a full set plus ...but they were still too short....so I got nothing in the box...lol

found the old pushrod checking tool....set the adjuster to where I want it...turn the adjuster on the pushrod to take out all the lash...then I set the lash on the valve.....photo shows what i got...

So tomorrow I call Smith Bros pushrods in Oregon....and order a set....might order next size up....11/32 instead of 5/16 since the pushrod tubes are opened up....the W2 pushrods were 3/8 and had plenty of room...

One thing i like....the spec sheet said they springs were installed at 1.90.....and my spring checker said 1.89,,,,,,add a .060 and a .030 shim bingo...I am right at the 1.80 where i want to be........

I put a Eddy Super Victor on it.....see how it looks....lol

As always the garage is a mess....lol

That looks good!

The seat you got there looks much more comfortable for doing engine work that standing up hunched over for sure.

seat is for computer that is in the garage along with 50 inch Flat Screen.....you need to upgrade your garage...
