Hi folks, new guy here. Big mopar guy but haven't been on the board yet. I'm in the market for a 71/72 dodge demon and knew this was the place to come for various questions I have. First and foremost, can someone explain to me why there is two style mopar ralley wheels? I've heard some are for big bolt patterns and small yet I see both on all year dodges and plymouths. Is it just an issue of centre caps? Pictured is both styles: Thanks all

Acorn & Sombrero center caps were available for various years, I don't have a listing for them. Yes, they were available in 14" & 15" large bolt circle, all of the small bolt pattern wheels were 14" only. They are reproducing the small bolt pattern wheel in 15", The center caps will interchange as long as they are the same bolt circle.

The short and sweet answer, this would be correct for your Demon. 14"x5.5" Small Bolt (4") Rallye wheel with the dark argent center cap.
PS: This is assuming your Demon still has the original bolt pattern.

You kind of have two topics there, bolt pattern, and wheels.

The small bolt pattern is only found on A bodies up to 72 for all cars - Valiant, Duster, Dart. Then in 73, disc brake A bodies got the same 4 1/2" bolt pattern to match the other car lines. Drum brakes and the 4" bolt circle continued on low option models, however.

The Rallye wheels had early - up to mid '71 -and late 72 to 76 center caps. Of course, the caps have to match the bolt pattern. The caps can be found in either pattern. My Demon came with small bolt, of course, and had the 72 and later centers.

Thank you, so if my 72 had the bigger bolt "+" looking centre cap I could buy the cleaner looking earlier model cylinder style centre caps?

You could use any of these caps. First thing to do is to verify what bolt pattern you have. These caps are available in both small and big bolt patterns.
