1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

-
I am sorry I have not posted anything new. I have gotten a couple of small things done. I got the Ford 9" narrowed to the correct stock length. I also got Glenn to find me a replacement speaker for the radio. Don't know if I have already said it, but I also replaced the driver's side motor mount. It was mashed down pretty badly. I will get some pictures of the rear end housing and speaker in the next day or so. I am kinda gettin motivated again and my next project is going to be blasting and painting my tail light housings. I found some cool chrome spray from VHT that's supposed to be badass. So I will get them blasted and painted. Rhett from work has said he is going to come over and help me reshape the quarter area on the driver's side where the quarter attaches to the body along the side of the trunk. Whoever fixed that part was obviously legally blind and got the shape COMPLETELY wrong. Anyway, there's going to be some work coming up so I will be updating as we go. Pictures of the rear end housing and speaker tomorrow. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement so far. It really means a lot.

Well I guess I can forgive ya, Rusty LOL, but I don't think you have MY problems LOLOL Why is I on the roof you ask? Well, that is the only way I know of to get snow off the shed. The "new boat" is upside down on the trailer back there.........

So am I, but I've read and heard good things about it. If the weather is good enough, I may find out this weekend. I have lots of other commitments too though, so I may not have enough time.

Got the carpet out and laid it in the car. Gonna leave it for a few days so it'll settle out some and flatten out a little. Then I'll trim it up and install it for good. It sure is RED! lol

Rob, did you lay down the jute or some sort of underlayment? Amazing how much carpet and jute quiets the ride from rubber mats. When I got my carpet, the guy sent a 25 lb roll of some sort of black pliable linoleum looking stuff. It laid down flat and I was able to form it into the corners and over the hump for a flat finish. Not real happy about another 25 lbs but it sure is quiet down there now.

It has jute under it. The carpet, jute and sound deadener ought to make for a quiet Valiant. lol. I don't mind the weight. These little cars are light enough already. A little more ain't gonna hurt.

Nice looking carpet for the 64 valiant Rob. When you install it, make sure you have it pushed forward enough up under the dash so that the firewall doesn’t show itself to short folks. Did you ever get a headliner put in the car yet?

No, I have not. I have it, just not installed yet.

You might want to do the headliner before you do the carpet. The spray glue and the other cements used will drip on the new carpet. I wouldn’t want to see your new carpet get messed up when you install the headliner.

Me either, but I am just gonna have to put some plastic down at this point. It may be spring or early summer before the headliner. This show has got to go on. lol

Got some small stuff done. Got the nine inch rear end housing narrowed and painted. The guys had some "Pull you Over" red paint left from a GTO they painted and surprised me with a red housing. It's RED. Since the interior at the very least will be red, it will be a good match. I am thinking about going black with the outside paint. We'll see. Also got my has to be rare early A body Receiver hitch blasted and in black epoxy. I'm going to shoot it semi gloss black. Red ain't it? LOL

Damn that's red alright.

I'd love to have a ***** for our 70 dart

I'm sure you meant hitch. LMAO. I can get you some measurements if you want. All it would take would be to make it a bit wider for your frame rails. Everything else should be the same I would imagine.

It's measured and DONE. All I need to do is locate the spring perches, weld them on and repaint where the welds will be. I will give you every measurement you want when I am done. Don't let me forget.....because I will. LOL

Thank you Rusty, I had one on this 63 and pulled my John boat with it .
