I am installing a set of bucket seats from 72' Dart into my 72' Duster. The seats were originally bench seats. The tracks on the buckets have different heights, approx. 1". Where is the proper installation for the new tracks, I've read that it's not on the hump where the bench seats were mounted. I know the use of spacers on the interior side of each bucket, but there will still be a height difference. I will include pics of the new bucket tracks. Thanks and stay safe!

4 dimples in the sheetmetal floor where 4 yellow circles are in the pic. The outboard holes the reinforcements are already under the floor with holes punched in them. On the inboard side theres square reinforcements that need to be either purchased, or made then welded in on the top side. My pic shows it drawn in red. Your floor is stamped for those plates locations for the assembly line workers as is the dimples in the pan for them to drill the holes. You can probably make the plates out of 1/16" flat sheet metal.

Thanks! I measured the centers from inner to outer track and measured 13 1/2", just seems like there will be no room left on the inner side for the center console. Also, any idea why theres almost 1" of height difference from inner to outer, I know the inner plates will reduce that some but not all. I believe these to be the proper buckets. I appreciate the help.

Tracks you have may not be for an A body. Factory A body console is very narrow between the seats , wider at the front. Shaped like a coffin.

Thanks again. I took another look and I do not believe I have the right tracks. That's what I get for trusting the seller that they were out of a 72' Dart, shame on me. I will post a wanted thread, lol. Awesome site, glad I found this one. I should just be content re-instslling the factory bench, right? Thanks again for your assistance, this my first A body.....

They could have been out of a 72 dart, but he may have drilled the holes anywhere to make them fit.

Yes you are correct again. I researched and found that 70-72 A bodies require tracks from only those years. New tracks are $250, maybe I'll get lucky and find some used. These seats are from a 73' Dart, not a 72' as I was told, hence why fitment didnt seem right. Thanks again for your expertise.

Your welcome. At least now it points you in the right direction. Maybe you can sell the 73 tracks and it will give you some money to get what you need.

Ignorance is bliss, I know it's on me to know exactly what I'm looking for, like I said it's my first crack with A bodies. Lesson learned.

Should we put the whole thing on line, emails included, and see who is the child. You should grow up.

I'm no child, and I hate being taken advantage of. I confided in you and you lied to my face trying to make a buck. Everybody knows that 73 and up do not warrant the same money as 70-72 as I was told numerous times these were 70-72 by you.

Don't forget that these plates you are welding in to reinforce the floor are not just spacers. They are to keep the seat bolts from pulling through the floor sheet metal in a wreck. That is why there are reinforcements under the floor on the outside - to keep the bench seat from tearing out. If you are making your own, don't skimp on the thickness of the material or the thoroughness of the welding.

I've never installed a set but will be doing so soon. Don't they go under the floor like the other reinforcements????

You are clueless, so don't speak about things you don't know. Do a little home work on A-body seats.

For being a so called A body expert, you do your homework. You are wrong and you know it, otherwise youd make it right. I have spoke to members on here that wish to remain anonymous and they agree you took me. Principle here is you repeatedly lied about what year they were from, maybe thats why they never made into your 70 Dart, cause they were wrong.

They didnt sell on here and when a member asked if they were 73-76 you went silent. You've know for long time that these were 73 or newer.

Those are mismatched tracks.

The outer is from an F body (76-80 Aspen/ volare) the inners are possibly the correct track but I would have to measure, but probably from a C body. A and c body inners looked similar but the c body was just slightly lower profile, which is probably why it doesn't match the height with the other one.

71 to 74 A body bucket seat tracks are all the same.

70 was one year only.
75 and 76 had a different inner on the driver side to clear the bump in the floor for the catalytic converter.

However on a side note, a 72 dart as well as a 73 dart were never available with bucket seats. They all had benches. In those years only the demon and duster could have had bucket seats, which contributes to their rarity.

None of my business, but were those deemed to be a matched set? What were you charged?

Definitely a seat track mismatch. Two sets of bench seat tracks, a few cutoff wheels, and a welder will get you a homemade set of bucket seat tracks. Classic Industries has seat tracks listed, but they come dear, listed as LH and RH 249.- ea.

Yes matched set $500.

Listen in times like this I dont want to be consumed with this BS, but it becomes a matter of principle, he knew exactly what he had and he took advantage of my not knowing, the caveat here is I explained I knew nothing about these and took his word that they'd bolt in. So essentially instead of just recovering the seats and being into them 1k, I need new tracks, foams and upholstery, I'm not looking to put $2000 seats in a $5000 car. Thought this would be fun to build a Duster on a budget, I've been a mopar guy my whole life, B and E body until now and I've met tons of great other mopar guys and it's like a community were we all try to help each other out, not take advantage of one another.

I appreciate everybody's input and help in this matter, and I just want this community to know one of their brothers pulled a fast one on me. Is this what the worlds coming too?

When I bought them I was told they were out of a '72 .. I had a '70 and the covers looked like my back seat so I bought them.

. The buckets are in excellent condition, covers and cushions, and can be dyed, as we discussed.

I sold the car and never used them, a member here bought the car. I offered to sell him the seats, but he said he was going to take out the bench and use after market seats, so I put these up for sale, believing the seats AND tracks were a-body. I would have not offered them to a member >IF I had known that the tracks were wrong !

After jumping on me in a previous email.

your email:
I apologize, I went out today to fit them and just got frazzled. "I'm not blaming you the least", just all this being cooped up is getting to me. The onus is on me to know what I'm looking for, not you. Sorry for venting on you for my mistake.

my reply:
"It alright, we're all suffering cabin fever .. "Let me get back to you when I check on line with some Mopar guys.. I will get back to you"

I even emailed you to send me a picture of the tracks, so I could look around to see what they were, and to check if someone was interested in them. Then you came to this site and accused me of screwing you, > after ( above ) I replied that I would assist you. I had every intention of finding a solution.

you can rant , now I'm done.

It took me awhile to figure out they were wrong, ok buddy. You even in another post said 70 or 72, but turns out they are neither.
