Picked this one up the other day. Have been looking for it for a month or so since I heard it was coming out. View attachment 1715487713

I just found one of these during a supply run to the grocery store. I was psyched until after I got home and I saw that my copy has a pretty darned off center stripe.

Well, it looks ok in the package so that's where it will stay. :D

Blems seem to be worth more usually. You might have a future collectible!

Is that right? I imagine it's only certain kinds of factory errors/blemishes, right?
I'd love it if they "accidentally" put Real Riders on one of these. :)

Yep, factory mistakes. Like misspellings or misaligned stripes. I’m not a toy expert though.

I’m super jealous of that Superbird!
It is pretty cool. I see you can order them on amazon. A lot of times I’ve found some cool hotwheels sets for actual retail prices on there with the free shipping too. Worth checking out if your ever looking for something.

Thanks! Ive been keeping an eye out but it looks like it goes for about 2x retail on line.

Very cool!
I tried looking online(besides ebay) and couldnt find? Got a link or sku #? I tried "flf56" already.
Thanks

Mattel is a master at creating scarcity and making people scramble to find that one rare car in a case of 76 or whatever. If you haven’t already, read up on Treasure Hunt series that has been going on since 1995. They have sent countless retired guys to their local Walmart at 6AM.

Their “vintage racing” cars seem to be stupidly sought after In general. Admittedly, they are damn cool but it’s pretty obvious that they could sell a whole lot more if they wanted to. I just bought a MOSC Vintage Racing Boss 302/Dan Gurney. I was only able to afford it because it had an error with an extra tampograph/decal. Usually they go for $50+. I really wanted a the BRE/John Morton Datsun 510 before I found out that everyone else did too. :(

As for the Superbird... these team transport sets come boxes of four pieces. One (the Porsche set) is duplicated and the other two are one per case. The one-per sets will vanish immediately and the other will languish in inventory and prevent a re-stock. So these will always be half as common as the Porsche and automatically desirable. Add in the vintage/authentic scheme and the fact that is a particularly beautiful car and it’s instant collector bait.

I’m tired of playing that game. I just want tiny, scale models of the cars that I love. I resist paying collector prices whenever possible.

Can you spot the goof? I may try to remove it at some point...but I’m just glad to have this Boss in my display case.
