1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

-
Would be nice to see a how to on that with pictures, since my 64 and ZERO courtesy lights anywhere to be found.... No Dome light, but I have the rear seat side mounts, buts thats all they are.... posers.....no lighting gear in them.... I guess in 64 they expected u to use a flashlight.

I found some under dash courtesy lights from a Buick on Ebay and wired them into the dome light harness. I got one complete rear courtesy light harness and another that had been cut from members here. That's what I used to plug in at the dome light and run back to the rear courtesy lights. It's just two wires. The pink hot wire and the white ground. The ground wire is run rather than grounded to the body because that's how the lights are switched. With a ground switch. It's a tad late for a how to on the courtesy lights, as they are installed and the wiring covered by the headliner, but I could do one on the trunk light.

Got Vixen's windshield installed tonight. I was tired, so we'll save the lock strip for tomorrow.

Got my little 3.5" Kenwood coaxial front speakers in with the cool speaker bracket I got from @74 Sport. Thanks Jerry. It fits real nice. Looks even better through that windshield, too. lol

Wow....that's either a brand new windshield or you found a dang nice one!

FAR from new. It shows its age right around the very edges, but other than that, it's pretty nice.

I hope I can get a new one for my 65 Barracuda. Mine is delaminating around the edges....bad! My buddies wife works at a glass shop, so I'm hoping she can get me one.

Man I have searched high and low and cannot find one. Ours takes the same glass. Good luck. I hope you find one.

So what color are you doing the exterior rob? Black would make that red interior pop!

Black, the color that shows all the metal ripples & bad bodywork.... but when done right......

Windshield lock strip installed. That little lock strip tool makes it very easy to do.

Went ahead and got the lock strip in the back glass gasket too. Will run some sealant around it in a day or so when it dries out and it'll be one step closer to the road.

I'll have to do this in the near future. Can you show a photo of the tool, and where did you get it?

Great progress on the car, I'm sure it will be a hoot to get back on the street.

Forgot the pitchers. Here's the rear gasket with lock strip installed and I put her wipers back on.

Man, that's a sweet little car. I like the black lockstrip too. I'd leave the exterior as-is and drive the piss out of it.

Backed her outta the shop tonight so she could get some air. Let her run a good while. Almost ready. I should be driving again next week.

Thanks yall. What I caint believe is how quick it revs. The accelerator pump finally did give up and I put a kit in the carburetor. After that, it just flings up real quick. lol
