What sway bar will work with QA1 upper/lowers on a 65 Dart?

When I bought my control arms from QA1 I assumed there was a sway bar that would work with this combination without purchasing a QA1 K member. I mean, why else would I upgrade the suspension? I've read that the Hotchkis 67-72 bar will work with this combo but there are conflicting opinions about this. Can someone confirm a solution?

I just posted in your other thread, but the Hotchkis bar should work with the QA1 lowers' sway bar tab.

The QA1 LCA's sway bar tab is located for use with 73+ sway bars, so it won't work with a stock or stock dimensioned 67-72 sway bar. But the Hotchkis 67-72 front sway bar does not use the stock sway bar tab location. It actually uses a custom sway bar tab location that's pretty much identical (or actually identical) to the 73+ sway bar tab location. So the Hotchkis 67-72 sway bar should work with the QA1 LCA's. Or even factory LCA's that have the 73+ sway bar tabs.

The Hellwig "pro-touring" 67-72 sway bar is similar and should also work. The factory 67-72 sway bar tab locations seriously limits front tire width, so Hotchkis and Hellwig make bars that don't use them. Because if you're going to run a massive aftermarket sway bar you probably want to run wider front tires too.

The only wildcard I see is you've got a '65. But if you're gonna use a 67-72 Hotchkis sway bar then the end link locations should work with the QA1 LCA's.

Thanks. That is my concern. Assuming the tabs line up, the mounting location to the K frame is different so I will likely have to weld up something to make it work.

I too am interested in this solution. I really want to make the purchase for the upper and lower control arms for a 1974 a body. But I am not interested in changing my K Member, and I have a factory swaybar as it is. So what is the option/solution if you want QA1 tubular lower control arms, but want to keep the factory K Member and sway-bar?

Same here I have a 65 Barracuda factory formula S with the factory sway bar. I want to go tubular upper and lower control arms I don't want to give up the sway bar?

Fellow FABO,

I was told very clearly by QA1 that if using a 74 A body stock/factory K Member, and QA1 tubular lower control arms, that my factory sway bar would not fit. I’ve asked many a questions to figure out how to marry all this up, only to be advised it was an all or nothing deal. If I wanted to utilize any one component, I had to stay with a common manufacturer, be it QA1 or Mopar.

Fed up with not getting any answers, I threw caution to the wind and did a fit up......

Looks like it fits just fine to me. Not sure where are the miss information came from but let me be clear, these are stock 74 model parts, with one notable exception. The QA1 lower control arms.....

We installed a QA1 Phase Two suspension kit on our '69 Valiant and everything fit. We used a Hellwig Products rear anti-sway bar that integrated right into the rear suspension. We also use a Calvert Racing CAL-TRACS traction bars, that we'll probably remove for autocross. The car rides great and is tight, with Nitto Tires.

Exactly, it works just fine. Like I’ve been saying over and over again for awhile now.

The QA1 LCA’s can be used with the 73+ style sway bars, as well as the 73+ Hotchkis and Hellwig bars.

They can also be used with the 67-72 Hotchkis bar and the 67-72 Hellwig “pro-touring bar”, #55917.

The end links may need to shortened depending on the application, but the QA1 LCA sway bar tab locations are compatible with all of those bars.
