Strut Bushings on my 64 Convertible. Drivers side 2 hours, thought this job was going to be a breeze until, passenger side 4 hours (nothing is a breeze with these old cars).

This looks awesome! Did you rechrome the grill before as well? What type of pint did you use?
No rechrome just cleaned it with acetone real good the bottom ledge where i think ma mopar put clear on and it discolors to a dullness took a little more work . And i used this its a dtm. vvvv

I got the Dart to finally move under its own power! Took a little grinding of the motor mount perch to clear the PS line (there was excess material). Finally got that all lined up, and with a few throttle tweaks I went around the neighborhood. Still a few things to tweak and perfect, but I'm so excited to be able to drive it around.

And yes, I'm going to paint that air cleaner something other than orange lol.

I'm going to keep messing with the tune on my car after work today! I have learned so much over the last couple years and I must credit the great folks on FABO for almost all of it?
I am 45 years old, and I am at the point in my hot rodding life that many of you were in your teens. When I started I could not get the carb to respond to changes like I was told it should, but I kept at it! I could not get the timing changes to respond like I was told they should, but I kept at it! Slowly but surely I am creeping up on having it run like I feel it is supposed to. It starts like a fuel injected car, It drops about 150 to 200 rpm when I put it in gear, It pulls noticeably harder than it did!
I was starting to think you all were full of **** with some of the 1/4 mile times you were posting with similar builds, the best I could muster was 15.3 at 94 mph. Unfortunately the track here is closed and may not open this year so I may not be able to test that. I need to get the new wiring set for my timing light so I can finalize the total timing and idle timing. Idle was real good then I connected my vacuum advance and it runs even smoother and nicer but now idles over 1000 rpms again, I like it about 900.
This car and the time the pandemic allows me to mess around with it has been so therapeutic. This site too, no one I am real close to is in to cars the way I am, but I come here and it's great. Thanks so much FABO, this site is great! I can't believe I have been on here for 14 years!

I did do something to my Car, besides look @ it, but this story is worth telling.

Several months ago, I decided to part out the Dumpster, after I found 4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashere in the roof, I made the call. Started correspondence with a Guy on Craigslist and via texting I agree to sell him the 8 3/4" for $400 including axles & 3:73 pumpkin, I know, I know, WTF, r u crazy?. Hay, I was stupid. Soon I am going to be an absolute Jerk to him. I told him I couldnt do it until after my Shoulder surgery 1st of the year, but to keep in touch the Diff is yours, dont worry about. We never talked or met, it was all thru text.

Any who we text back and forth over the months he checking in to see how Im doing, how surgery went, etc.. Sounds like a Great Guy, right. Then the Dart drops into my lap. Then I start fixing, repairing, & thinking of upgrades.. Better shocks, new ignition, tires, Master cylinder, u know the drill..been there done that... Ive got these brand new 340 leafs on the Dumpster, NEVER touched the ground. Gads yeah, thats a no brainer..... IF they fit that is. Aaaahhhhh crap! The rear end I promised to this Guy is for his KIDS 73 Dumpster. Mine is a 72 Reality hits my sorry ***. Im almost 66, looking to do the SS thing this Fall, sell my House in a few years, buy a sweet lil 5th wheel and a car to tow it with, and check out America/Canada for a while. All on an infamous, well documented 7 1/4" Time bomb differential?? I started to dread texting to him again.... the writing was on the wall. "Break a Deal, FACE THE WHEEL!!" Asshole time coming down the pike at me @ 100 mph....

Then my THIRD POS Android in 3 years decides to shart itself, and I lose everything including his phone number. A MONTH later he texts me. It didnt take long to devolve into chaos.. Said I was sorry, tried to explain.... he got a lil pissie, so did I, so I blocked his number and felt like ****.

Fast Forward, 5 weeks later, Im at Discount Tire taking care of Bizness mounting my new Tires for the Dart. Late the afternoon I swing up and get them and there is this SUPER SWEET 68 Cuda Drag Car getting some new slicks installed. I start up a conversation, and a young kid that is working at the shop is taking a tire out, he checks out the Cuda, drooling all over it and asks the Guy if it has an 8 3/4". The Guy says of course it has.....Wanna sell the Kid say!!! WTF?? Naw, no way it cant be? So, in the meantime a lil Dodge pickup truck pulls up, the 3 of us start talking while the kid gets back to work. Another MOPAR head I find out. Says he has a 68 as well, Convertible Cuda in his garage stripped down under going work. I tell him my tale of woah about the 13" rims not fitting the Dumpster and Im looking for rims to mount tires, blah, blah, blah.. He says, I have some 14" rims Im again like WTF???? Im about 10 mins away he says, wanna follow me out?

DUH....... 1 hour later I leave a veritable warehouse of MOPAR ****. 4 rims two tires and a completely rebuilt Carter Ball and Ball carb, $100 lighter, but Im all smiles. Next day I have to take the tire back, it was not done per my directions. Ask about the Kid..... whats his Dads name? OH.MY.GAWD!!!! Same Guy, this is his Kid i f'ed outta an 8 3/4 diff..... My face & guts r dragging..... Take the last rim and tire back for mounting. I wait for the Kid to come on shift. I apologize all over myself, tell him Im the A-hole with the differential u wanted... He is nothing but kool, thats when I find out he has a 73 Dumpster...... Thru conversation I ask him if he needs any interior? Yeah, What color...? Black..... I have that!!!

So..... Go back that afternoon to pick up tire...... I show him a Dash Pad Ive been trying to sell, he is all Yeah, but I have no cash on me.

Dont worry, its a peace offering. Have it as my gift..... Ill sell u the other stuff u may want. He Laughs

He is smiling, Im smiling, and it was just a lil MOPAR Magic going on.. I got a chance to redeem myself, and meet some kool People. Made some nice contacts that day as well

Well, tonight I un-clustered what I clustered last night. I was putting gaskets in the 4 speed... didnt realize that the guts come out with the tail shaft housing. Spilled some bearing pins and the strut keys for the 3-4 slider assembly. Got that put back together today.

that was enough for me.

Had my wife video me driving my Barracuda with the newly built and swapped 5.9 Magnum. I probably have 150 miles on it but I'm always driving, lol. Need to save up for a Sur-Grip.

And a picture of the engine.
