Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
Good morning everyone. Big storms last night. No damage but what a show...coffee please.

Got my customer car Ford Taurus buttoned up today. Tomorrow will be one week that I started on it which isn't bad considering I can't work on cars full time. I can work after my office job only on certain days.

I wish I could work on cars all day, every day......

Came in on a trailer, crank but no start. They also complained the power windows, locks and mirrors didn't work. Car had a ton of little things wrong with it. I really hate to see any car in that shape (except toyotas, which belong in the crusher)

I diagnosed the fuel pump as causing the the no start and I found some broken wires in the door jamb boot.

I really took my time over the weekend on fixing the wiring and cleaning the interior and fixing the small details, a door speaker also had a broken wire, so they all work now.

Yesterday and today, I had the gas tank out which was a nightmare to pull with 3/4 full of gas. I used a transmission Jack with a 2x4 across it to lower the tank. Then I used an old fuel pump from another car to drain the gas into buckets and reinstalled the tank empty so it was easier.

The new fuel pump only came with the little motor so I had to disassemble the fuel pump housing, the plastic with springs, and get everything back together without breaking all the brittle clips.

Was a fun project and I'm learning a lot more about Working with newer cars :p

Thanks @Tooljunkie

That’s great you got it fixed up. Bet owner will be happy!
Thats where it begins, you develop a reputation for good work and reasonable prices and they wont leave you alone.
Happy to help!

Wasn't sure if I was going to make it home from work. Neon running rough and a little low on power going up hills.. I think the problem started last night when i left work. Had to accelerate pretty good as I made a left to get into the traffic coming up the road. No problem, but then a short while later it seemed like it was momentarily dropping power. Did it a few times. Forward to today. Ran really rough when I started out to work. Didn't get far when engine light starts flashing and barely any power. Went back home. Checked for codes -nothing. Disconnected battery anyway to reset whatever... It improved a lot, but not 100%. Still trying to get to work, what else could I do quick? Had part of a can of throttle body cleaner - fed it that. Put a new air filter in... Test drove pretty smooth. Drove to work with no problem.:thumbsup: Them come home and it's rough. :soapbox:
Fuel pump/fuel filter.
Low fuel pressure wont set a code, but it causes longer injection pulse width. Coolant temp sensor going out of range,
Forcing it rich.

All caught up.
Morning everybody!
Motorhome for tune up today,
F250 back for parasitic battery drain that mysteriously disappears when it comes here to get fixed.
T-Bird back into shop tomorrow, i need it done and gone too.

Mine did the same thing once. I changed the throttle control module and seemed to fix it. But last night it would not go into reverse right but I did get it to back out of the space. But going down the road it would not shift into drive. I shut it off and started it again and it ran perfect! Frank? What do you suggest here?

I am really considering selling everything. I have accumulated "parts" and "stuff" and "tools" Keep enough for one car and one truck

Maybe you can get the rioters there and they will steal it all then do a insurance claim?

Neon too? There is a switch on top of transmission, prndl switch.
They can go bad,and tcm doesent know what gear its in. Also a solenoid pack on the front of transmission, they are prone to failure as well. Scan tool is necessary to determine whats going on.
The pt cruiser i bought cheap supposedly needed a transmission. Trans shop diagnosed it. I found the controller in the fender had corroded through and water/road salt got in it and killed it. $40 for a used one and it worked perfectly until my daughter destroyed the car.

There you go!
Believe it or not my small town had a protest the other night. We locked down and activated the rifle team. and placed guards at the front entrance and closed the back entrance. Dang what is the world coming to?

First time since I have worked there that the rifle team has been activated

It’s nuts for sure. The town nearby, small town USA, doesn’t even have a Kroger, just a Walmart, had a protest the last two nights. A few smashed windows of cop cars but so far, no looting or fires

They locked down the Walmart....but this is rural PA and Walmart was well guarded by ahem....Volunteers with assault rifles

Crazy for sure. I get the cops did the absolute wrong thing, I get the anger, but just don't get the damage done to the communities. Especially now I wonder how many small business lapsed on their insurance since being closed and have nothing now!
