Put a new tube and stick in the la 360 small block, the stick is hittin something[windage tray?] It goes about 3/4 of the way in so it's in the pan which is stock. It's a chrome replacement don't know why it would be hittin. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Try spinning the dipstick 180*. Mine hits the windage tray if I put the slot in the handle facing the grill, flip it 180 so it's facing the firewall and it's fine. I am using a milidon windage tray/pan and a Mopar chrome dipstick

Thanks I'll try that

Are you sure its the correct length?
I've had to cut down a tube or stick to adjust. Is your bottoming out on the pan floor?

It's hittin really solid and yes it's really long compared to the stock one I'm gonna get the stock stick and cut the tube to match I still have the old tube to use for measurement

Someone with a pan off should measure how far the stock dipstick drops below the pan rail for reference. Iirc the trans dipstick only pokes 1/4" past the rail.

Just a word of caution: There have been a few cases reported here (including pix) of the dipstick getting caught by the crank and a piece broken off and wrapped up in the crank.

That was a real common slant 6 problem. Sometimes you need to put a slight bow or bend in the dipstick tube to make the dipstick clear obstructions.
