Any of you fellas use one of these CVF racing water pumps? They are built like the modified ones I've seen on some engines...more flow.

I know one guy who uses them on his dirt late model.

Comments?

I like that there are threaded holes for the hoses instead of cast nipples to cap off. Thanks for posting that! have to keep it in mind when the time comes.

I have a customer with the Chevy 400 and his leaked from new and they had no problem sending him another one.
I just bought new pulleys and an alternator bracket and the water pump pulley didn't quite line up I had to use some washers to shim it. Also the hole was a little too tight going over the water pump and I called them on it and they were just about willing to send me another one but suggested I Emery cloth the water pump a little bit. It took her just a little bit more than that on the water pump but it fit on. Again they seem quite willing to send me a new one had I had any more issues. I guess what I'm trying to say is their customer service seemed pretty good... Also I really like the alternator bracket as opposed to the factory stuff..

Sometimes a bit of massaging does some good!

Thanks.

I run the black one on my race car. I can't really say that it's any better then another because I put it on when the motor was built so I haven't run any thing else. I had to grind a socket to fit to be able to thread the bypass fitting into it. I would look around because I remember only paying like $70 for the one I have.

$46 on Ebay. Anyone know what the impeller looks like? Can't seem to find a picture.

I've been running a Flowkooler water pump for about 15 years. It's been on three builds over the years and still going strong.

Just installed this water pump but have not run engine yet. As stated above I like I can plug the unused heater hose fitting instead of a cap. Also just installed their serpentine conversion kit. They have been really helpful and easy to work with mostly dealing with (Trevor) as I did some modifications to the kit.

Nice impeller like the E-Broc pump. Has a plate to block the water from getting behind the pump.

I was going to weld a 1/4" plate to the timing cover to keep the water on the impeller on a stock pump but now I won't have to.

A stock pump would likely work as my race carb is methanol but I need a new pump anyway.

Just bought one.....
Super. I need a new pump because the inlet on the current one rotted away and I had to rebuild it with brass shim stock and JB Weld. Please post your impressions when you receive it.

Should see it Tuesday.

so it has a plated impeller- good
the larger shaft and bearings?
I'd inspect the bearings- pull the bearings and see who made them
btw blocking the bypass or a valve will increase flow or allow you to reduce hp

not for your car but did you see the thread on thermostats
may be at FBBO

Times have changed since the made in USA Robertshaw was best
IDK what folks do for 361- 413 t stats
stock passanger car will fry your motor

5/8 shaft

Ok....Tuesday came Saturday morning.

First impression....fast delivery, good packaging and the pump is HEAVY (6lbs7ozs).

The casting is good. The water inlet is a touch rough at the opening. Fine as is but I will run a hone in there before I'm happy.

The hub is steel and nicely finished. The shaft measures a "metric" 5/8's. Okay by me.

The impeller is a closed design and the casting nicely directs the water past the impeller in an efficient manor.

Comes with brass hose Barb's and a gasket.

Overall a nice piece. At $46.00 it merits buying a spare for future projects.

I misspoke when I said earlier it is USA made. Brackets and pulleys are US made.... accessories are ChiCom.

That’s the kind of “user impression” post we need. You covered it all! And how has it been holding up?

besides the low price what advantages over a milidon high flow water pump ? I've been using the milidon for over 7 years never had a problem . For that price i might buy one as a spare always good to have spares

From what I’m seeing here and elsewhere is this CVF pump is exactly the same as the PRW pump which are both Chinese copies of the Edelbrock pump. The impeller size and how it fits in the cavity looks to be a better design than some of the other offerings, I’d think it would be a little more efficient moving the coolant. I just bought one regardless!

Ok, went and ordered one of these pumps from CVF through their EBay listing. What I received was a GMB 8 vane w/plate oem style (with heater and bypass hose stubs) that you can get down at the parts store. Not what is shown in the listing, not what Krooser has shown in this thread. Have sent them an email about it, will update here what they say. I’d be careful if you intend on getting one of these, you might want to call or email them with your concerns. This may have been a simple mistake, or it may now be the pump they sell and haven’t updated the photos in their listings.

I’m running the exact same pump that they sent but it in Gates branded. Exact. The plate is spot welded to the impeller vanes but the diameter is obviously much smaller within the cavity than The version Krooser posted pics of. The impeller is obviously a much larger diameter, filling the cavity of the pump body. I have a hunch it’s what you get from them now. Will see......

Just what I expected :( The GMB pump is what you get now. They were quick to reply and will refund me and pay return shipping so no big deal.
