It's in a 64 Valiant. Supposed to be a 64-65 273 ci 180 hp engine. The distributor isn't right, I can't find the right rotor for it (that's in my last post), but all other parts I've purchased so far are correct for a 64 - 273 (water pump, timing chain set manifold gaskets etc.)
I got the block number from under the the front of the left side head, it's:
VX2 - 38904C
Can anybody decipher this? I can't find it on any of the Mopar or performance sites I've visited, not even close.
Thanks again, Wally

Find the 7 digit casting number on the side of the block & there will be a casting date close to that also. That will help in identifying the block.

It will be 2465330 and that is the casting number for 64-66 273. 2 and 4 barrel.

Tmm, I wonder if someone used a poly distributor in his engine since your book shows it to fit 1963. IIRC I think it will fit with no alterations to the shaft.

I mentioned that in a previous post. Probably so. The only Prestoite distributors we know about in our year range of engines are dual points.

In '64 it should be V 273. In '65 it would be A 273. The rest of the numbers are date codes. Sometimes rebuilders will add their own numbers and/or wipe out the old ones.
